Which lag? I'm in us and have none. Maybe it's because I'm skilled.. Hummm
I mostly agree with this. However, I wonder if what some call lag is actually 'sup-par' computer. Or just folks who aren't paying proper attention etc. Probably a mixture of the 3.
Looks like this content is intended for the next tier of the level cap ><. Might be possible with double, though likely triple melded gear, top tier food, and popping mega-potions of (insert your attribute of choice) every 4 min, especially when all the spikes pop. Can't wait for extreme version of Garuda ^^.
P.S. SE put out a contest for guessing the days err months it will take for the 1st win of Ifrit Extreme. Winner get's to bypass Garuda extreme lol.
F*** yeah, green apples!
This would be relevant if we were talking about normal Ifrit, but we're not. It's obvious that the extreme version is A LOT harder. More eruptions, more plumes etc. If it follows a pattern and there are safe spots, then we'll learn how it works and it will be fine, but if it's random, then we're we're clearly at a disadvantadge compared to the Japanese.
We esperience the same lag as everyone, at 70ms i still gets latency and animation lock, maybe i might have 0.5 advantage but thats about it. There are plenty of JP players that are bad at evading as well.
I agree with this as well. I haven't been running a normal Hard Drive for 8 months now (SSD only). I built a friend a PC the other day with a Mechanical Hard Drive and while test playing on it, it was almost unbearable with the amount of skipping and animation lag. Running through Ul'dah was....annoying. Even running through open areas with no other people it was skippy. Not sure how it'd be in an Instanced Fight.
My system was good with a SSD and a 1GB video card. It's pretty flawless with a 2GB Video card.
Maybe a normal hard drive and 2GB of video memory would be decent. (less loading due to higher video memory)
Not gonna lie though, I've seen some weird things happen on Ifrit. Like when he jumps and then never re-appears, all you see is fire coming at you lol. Or the Nails come up, but noone can see them, and you can't target them. Least favourite is, noone can see cracks.

If you cannot make the difference between skill and lag, you have serious issues.
Saying that you can still evade things fine despite latency is one thing (hey I'm in EU and I can do it as well!), but recognizing that latency is present is another issue.
The day you'll have an encounter with mechanisms that cannot be anticipated and require you to react in a second or less, you'll come back and tell us about your so called skill.
Right now, Ifrit eruption window is so huge than anyone can avoid it properly. EU players can do flawless victory as well... I have no idea about the extreme version, but from the look of that JP video, the window to move out of eruption was roughly the same as the normal fight.
Antipika.

i disagree to this, i am an EU player and the serverlag is sometimes really really horrible, ill give you a short example:
Coincounter's 1shot move - battlelog OK ruuuuuuuuuun, and the tank is already out of range and still get the hit. But its also sometimes at chimera in CC, when you outrun one of his move and still get the hit.
You can say "many people use this as an excuse of their own inability", but only people who ever had this horrible serverlags will understand and accept the fact that it is a problem.
Its still the same @ hardmode ifrit - cracks spawn under me, i am not in any animation lock or w/e, i try to outrun but still get a hit.
here are 2 videos, i compared Coincounter's 100 Tonze Swipe and in the first video between the first and the second 100 tonze swipe's (starting @ 11:14) there is more then one seconds difference before the Tank is losing HP. by the first hit he lost HP after 1,9 seconds and on the second he lost HP after 3,3 seconds
In the second video shows the swipe twice in a row (starting @ 11:48) and the tank is losing HP always arround 2,9/3 seconds

Second: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNJjvMqZS34
and this examples are just cake against our runs arround midnight GMT +2 where the server lag really starts to get annyoing.
Ifrit is all about anticipating what hes going to do, i agree with everyone saying server lag isn't a big deal. He can throw out some bs moves but 80% of the time i hear people bitching about server lag its because they started casting a spell half a second before he was going to use a tp attack and end up getting stuck because of it. The key to beating ifrit has always been to do nothing and you win basically. Ifrit extreme is probably exactly the same except you will have to be more coordinated with where people run when the eruptions go off, and the fact that the nail stages seem to be alot more intense than they used to be.i disagree to this, i am an EU player and the serverlag is sometimes really really horrible, ill give you a short example:

Just saw a finished relic weapon on my server.
Seems as though it wasn't that hard after all.
