I got termination ban but I thought it was too harsh

The event was at 2:11 AM on April 11th. I was using my mouse macros to help me craft pots for my TOP static. I also watched TOP clear POV on youtube. But I was too tired because TOP took a lot of my energy that day. So I fell asleep on my seat. I waked up after 4 hours. Then, I saw my account logged out, but I cannot log in, I went to mog station to check my account and it was suspended.

WTF? Are you kidding me? During that time, I found I got an email when I fell asleep, it was at 2:32 AM. The email showed me, I violated three rules, so I got termination ban. Those rules were "Registered Users", "Cheating and Botting", and "PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES." LINK The "Cheating and Botting" I can imagine that were my mouse macros. But I had no idea about the "PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES." So I wrote a lot of account action review requests to support center to contact GM team to show/explain what "PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES" I did. All emails from support center didn't explain what "PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES" were. I was sad about the support center efficiency. After 2x days, the support center sent me this. LINK I didn't know what I wanted to say. I needed an explanation what "PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES" I did. I probably can explain maybe it was not me, or it was a slander. But you know, the support center didn't wanna hear what I said. They just sent me trash message to reply me useless answers.

I don't think this judgement was fair. I haven't gotten any warning, caution emails before and got termination ban at first time. No matter, I had a lot of gils, I never RMT to any player. But this was support center responded. LINK I just need an answer to show me what rules I broke. Then, I can explain how harsh the penlty was.(I have already explained the cheating/botting was my mouse macros.) Imagine that a police officer tells you that you have committed a crime, but he does not tell you why. Is this the correct law enforcement procedure? I thought GM team should give me 3 days suspension to warn me don't use mouse macros, because it is 3rd-part apps in their outlook, not just a termination ban. Hey, it's a 4 years account. I haven't used any 3rd-part apps in FFXIV. (Ok, maybe mouse macros are 3rd-part apps) How about the world first TOP clear team's penalty? Did they all get termination ban? No! How about my penalty? Is that fair? If gm sees my article, please contact me, because I don't want to communicate with customer service. The support center wasted my time already one month. Their responses and answers drove me crazy, and I even suspected that I seemed to get melancholia.

Can’t talk about bans and moderation on the forums.

    Hi

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but when you signed up to play it was your responsibility to read and understand the ToS and prohibited actions.

All you needed to do was google ffxiv’s prohibited activities to answe your question; the things you bolded are literally the parts of the ToS/prohibited list that apply to your case. It is not a mystery.

Your use of the mouse to automate potion crafting violates the rules and while 99.99% of the time nobody will care that you use them while sitting at your desk playing, you fell asleep while the script continued to run, presumably crafting potions for hours.

    (Prohibited Behaviors)

■Behavior that disrupts the game balance
Square Enix strictly prohibits the use of third-party programs or tools as these disrupt the balance of the game. Third-party programs and tools that permit automated or "absentee" play are prohibited. A Game Master (GM) may speak to players to investigate and confirm "absentee" play, and if the player continues with this behavior, contrary to the GM's instructions, they will be treated as participating in "absentee" play and subject to penalties.

Accordingly, the following activities are prohibited:

    - Modifying, analyzing, integrating, and/or reverse-engineering game software or data.
    - Creating, distributing, using, or promoting utilities that interact with the game.

1 Cheating and Botting. You may not create or use any unauthorized cheats, bots, automation software, hacks, mods or any other unauthorized software or hardware designed to modify the Game and gameplay. In addition, you may not take advantage of game system bugs and exploits during gameplay.

While the rules are clear, doesn't it actually take someone being spiteful enough to actually file a report to even get the attention of a GM in the first place?

This will end up deleted but in case you get to see this before it does, mouse macros are considered third party programs that can automate game play in violation of the ToS. If the mouse macro can do more than we're capable of doing with a standard in game macro (like have the macro automatically restart), you're better off not using it.

Any sort of third party program automated game play is zero tolerance if caught.

SE has said multiple times that it doesn't require someone reporting the player's activity for them to take action against an account.

But generally, yes it's going to be someone reporting the player that triggers the activity review.

Never said or believed it requires player reports for them to act, merely to "react" unless they just happen to be there in place. So in a lot of cases, the attention is gained from player reports, which have a greater impact to ensure someone is being punished simply by being found.

My main concern is, if people run weird things, why in open places where people will frequently hang out on? Like they are shooting themselves in the foot by gaining attention, especially with the ever increasing hatred to 3rd party tools beyond the scope of TOS rulings, thanks to various bad actors just taking things too far.

I would also add, while a lot of assumption on my part, they also have a violation of rule 3.1, which says they are sharing accounts with other users…so it could be a bought account or some angry teammates or some such. I didn’t want to comment on that, but that is explicitly listed as one of their violations.

If you were in downtown Limsa crafting pots for hours, someone is bound to report you

and if a GM shows up to investigate and you dont reply.... it would be an easy call on their end unfortunately

I'm curious how someone with a terminated account could post on the forums? Does forum posting continue for awhile after termination?

I know I can post on the forums for about 2 weeks after my active sub to the game ends. Maybe it's something like that, that or because it takes a while for the forum to update (Like I can't go onto the forums right after reactivating my account until like 4-12 hours after logging into the game actively)
