You're comparing getting the relic in NEW Dynamis, not how it was in OLD Dynamis. Really, FFXIV relics are more comparable to getting a Mythic weapon in XI.
Allow me to show you what it took to get a Mythic weapon in XI.
- Complete the main ToAU story line (Not that hard really)
- Get Captain rank (by completing all 50 assaults - Minimum 50 days).
- Climb Nyzul Isle to get special weapon (although, it is possible to get weapon before getting to top)
> Start quest
- Kill 3 Beastmen bosses
- Complete all four areas of Salvage
- Get Key (From climbing Nyzul Isle)
- Kill Odin (In Einjerhar)
- Get 150,000 Nyzul isle points
- get 30,000 Alexandrite (drops only in Salvage in 1-100 increments. You'd be lucky to get more than 100 per run)
- get 10,000 ichor in Einjerhar (Months and months of Einjerhar running)
- Do all 50 assaults AGAIN (this time, trading an item to the exit point, 50 days MINIMUM)
- Get 3 final ZNM items from bosses (also used to pop Pandemonium Warden, toughest boss in XI. And did I mention they only had a 1 in 3 chance of dropping?)
- Fight a ghost using special weaponskill (Okay, this one's a bit easier).
Relics in XIV are lightweights to get compared to mythics in XI. So, stop whining about how "hard" or "difficult" they are to get, cause they ain't.
Why compare the difficulty of obtaining a FFXIV Relic with a FXI Mythic? They are not the same thing.
By saying SCH/DNC you're talking post WotG, before that there wasn't 3 exp packs so while there was content there wasn't as much as when you're talking, it was a long slow grind that took months, we will start seeing server firsts in a week or so I think

You're basing your information on the current setup of relics and not on when it first came out. It's possible the XIV version may go through the same evolution as time progresses but you first have to think of XI like this:If this game felt like FFXI I'd have a ton of content to do, lots of people to play with and I would be playing my SCH and DNC, The Relic requirement in XI is nothing compared to XIV's...
XI -
Gain weapon from appropriate Dynamis zone - Very common drop
Gain currency - You can even do this solo and buy every currency if you have the gil for it
Gain craft items requested - This above all is the easiest step unless you go after Gungnir, which has a weapon you need to craft yourself or get someone to craft.
Wait a few real life days between steps.
Gain Attestations and Shards - Very very easy.
Take weapon to requested zone and get your weapon (or shield) and a refund on one of the steps which you can hand off to someone else or sell.
Tell me how that's "bad" compared to XIVs that people are complaining about left and right?
Good thing I saved all my beastmen currency (paid off playing FFXI lol.)
-3 days in between a run
-500k-1mil entry fee each run
-run through hoops to spawn the parts for attestation and shard
..
But since you are now talking about the Magian trial version you have to input the following requirements to make a weapon which is worthy of being used for 99:
-Use Metatron Torment 200 times against Lizards. (process of building up 100 TP and using it on a lizard type mob, and missed WS don't count)
-Use Metatron Torment to deal the finishing blow 200 times against Plantoids. (now you have to land killing blow with WS so you beat off mob til you feel comfortable with using said WS)
-Use Metatron Torment to deal the finishing blow 300 times against the Undead. (same as above)
-Use Metatron Torment to deal the finishing blow 300 times against Plantoids. (same as above and it finally rewards you with the lv 80 weapon)
-Use Metatron Torment to deal the finishing blow 400 times against Dragons. (I'm sure by now you've spent weeks reaching this part lol)
-Defeat Goublefaupe 5 times with Bravura (85) equipped. (which is easier now cause of changes made to dynamis being onec a day plus the fact said NM is a pop now so you can do it in one run if you have said pops)
-Defeat the Animated Great Axe 10 times with Bravura (90) equipped. (same as above easier now cause of changes with Dynamis)
-Retrieve 5 Vials of Umbral Marrow and turn them in to the Delivery Crate in Ru'Lude Gardens at (H-5) next to the Magian Moogle.
**To obtain said item you have to face off against "Arch Dynamis Lord" to face off against him you have to do the following
***obtain Fiendish Tomes 26-30. Now where do these come from?
****Each Tome comes from a boss NM in Xarcabard, 4 demons and Dynamis Lord
*****Each NM has a pop you have to farm, then you have to farm them for the tome, then you have to take that tome to spawn the arch dynamis lord and beat him.
So ya.. think Xi stills wins for being tougher lol

For sure. XI you had 5 stages.
Stage 1: Drop weapon.
Stage 2: 4x 100 currency. Stage 1 weapon 3 crafted items.
Stage 3:14x 100 currency. Stage 2 weapon 3 weapon items.
Stage 4: 61x 100 currency Stage 3 weapon 1 Attestation which dropped from a mob that will spawn 6 helpers and has a semi low drop rate
Stage 5: 100x 100 Currency. Stage 4 Weapon 1 Shard from dragons before DL and an item from an animated weapon that you have to kill in like under 60 sec.
So that is 179x 100 items that vary depending on weapon. An average full run yields 300 currency or the equivalent of 3 x 100 items. Depending on shell you may or may not get the 100's that drop so assuming they do not go to you that's 60 runs you have to do or the equivalent of 60 million gil or 30 million based on when you started. Each run being 3+ hrs long that is at least 180 hours or 60 days of play time plus the time needed to farm 30-60million gil. This also doesn't count the number of times you may have to retry a run to kill the animated weapons or attain an attestation so you are looking at 60 days on the highly optimistic side. XI blows this difficulty out of the water. I agree.
Edited in: Mythics were just as hard and always required at least 1 full party but I wont get into those insane requirements.
With all the crapload on items you need and them planning to REDUCE inventory/storage space in 2.0, we'll get into some REAL space management issues -_-

Wait. I thought they stated that beastmen currency wouldn't be used for anything? Sigh. :|

Heh ohh well. If I had to make a guess, WHM's might be Sylph leaves. I didn't have any of those. >.<
Good point though. Note to self: never trust paid entertainment ever again. x3
