No one was forced to do Eureka or Bozja when those were current content. I don't know why people struggle to grasp such a simple concept, now we have content that is one and done and nothing else besides the same old roulettes we've been doing for 10 years. I just want more out of the game, I know it can do better, it has in the past. Now people just settle for less because daddy Yoshi-P(rimal) has indoctrinated half the playerbase into being corporate thralls or something... I don't know.

I played XIV exclusively for a year and even that was horrible, you can still play other games, it's good that the game allows that without falling behind but now it has tilted to basically being forced to play other games all the time since XIV doesn't offer anything to keep you logged in aside from RP or whatever, and I don't RP so there really is nothing.
What keeps you interested in repeating content after you've completed it for the first time? That's useful information for the developers if they're trying to solve longevity problems.

As for players not forced into Eureka or Bozja, I know a lot of players who would disagree about at least Eureka and likely Bozja. They want the relic weapons. Eureka was the only way to get the Stormblood relics. Bozja itself was an option yet when the players disliked the other option more, that left them stuck in Bozja for the Shadowbringers relics.

We're running into the place where players aren't a hive mind and don't enjoy the same content yet there's a major content reward - the relic weapons - that most of them want to get. SE took a chance this expansion and allowed players their choice of content to grind for the weapons and still many haven't been happy. Hard to say what they're going to plan for next expansion now.

I'm sure a lot of people want the ultimate weapons too, but we don't sell those at vending machines to make the process easy for the people who don't want to put the effort in or who don't like the grind.

I'm not suggesting that it should be that way. I'm just pointing out that some players would disagree with what that poster said.

If you want a reward then you do the content that is required to get it. Ultimate weapons aren't quite the same as the relic weapons because of the skill level involved. While there are less than ethical ways to still get those weapons and some players will go that route, most will accept them as inaccessible.

That hasn't been the case with the relic weapons. The content for them is accessible to the average player and so they do the quests to get them. It's not going to change that if they don't like the associated content, they're going to feel forced into doing that content so they can get the new relic.

well FFXI is less grindy than before, but I started FFXI three years ago and Im kind of mad at myself I didn't start this amazing game first than XIV, the jobs are amazing with each their own image instead of a carbon copy like XIV jobs and i love how deep the combat system is and doing skillchains or magic bursts with your fellow team mates to do more damage than filling up a mindless gauge do do one limit break which is always DD doing

Also I'm not stuck with the boring ass sicons every expansion, I get to meet new people in every expansion and yeah I will see familiar faces like shantotto or Lion but they don't overstay their welcome like the scions do ( looking at you Ystola, or the male twin)

is FFXIV even considered a RPG when all the RPG elements are like gone from the game? it's more of a dress up, second life, night club social game like IMVU

anyways I'm having a great time with XI, Vana'diel is my home

It's on sale here soon with a free login campaign. Would be a good time to grab it, or try it.

Ayeeee. It goes on sale for $10 starting this upcoming Friday the 12th (usually $30). I love the game, and think it's definitely worth checking out, but you really need to know what you're getting into. lol.

That game literally dumps you into the starting zone with 10 gil to your name, there are no NPCs to guide you around, no !'s peppering the map, you'll have to learn how to navigate the menu for everything, you'll basically live in a wiki, and that's just scratching the surface. It's not for the faint of heart. :3 But!..if you can get past the first couple of weeks of thinking "OMG why did I buy this game!?", things do usually start clicking and you can find your groove. Not trying to play the XIV vs. XI card, but there is sooo much more depth to the systems and jobs in XI. Some may love that, some find it annoying.

The XI subreddit is actually a pretty helpful place. The Bg Wiki will be one of your main sources for actual game information along with the ffxiclopedia site. This guide is pretty handy for just starting out. I'm not sure if this has changed in recent years, but the ffxiclopedia site used to be a bit better for older content (like 75-era content) while BG wiki has a lot more for the current endgame.

Sounds perfect. Kinda like how MMOs are supposed to be - Complex and engaging.

I just wasn't sure how to get started, or what server to go to.

"So what do you do in FFXIV?" - "Well.. I.. Click the quest marker, then read text. Then I go to this next NPC and read some more text. For about 300 hours"

As far as servers go, for NA, Asura is going to be the largest with Bahamut coming in 2nd. You may want to do a search for Asura vs. Bahamut to get an idea of the personalities of both to see what suits you better. If EU/JP......not sure on those server reqs. X:
