Honestly I've been shocked just how entrenched the argument that one of the best things about the game is in fact how little content is being added is becoming

I don't think anybody has said that. I think a lot are just flabbergasted that people are still paying for a game that's not holding their attention. Like, I log in only when the friends want to do something, else I don't log in at all. If they didn't want to do stuff in FF14, I'd probably have unsubbed until 6.4 simply because there's nothing that I really have the energy for in this game at this point. It's people trying to look for reasons to stay subbed and trying to make changes for that reason that I'm finding really weird. It feels like people are stuck in a sunk cost fallacy and trying to do everything in their power to avoid unsubbing.

I think you are misunderstanding. I think the point is generally 1. No game in existence is going to keep up with the appetite of gamers who play 7 days a week X hours a day. 2. There is a lot of content to be enjoyed, players just may not be interested in some or even most of it. That doesn't mean there is no content.

And yes, I do appreciate this game is easy to keep up in, so I can enjoy interests outside FFXIV without feeling so behind. Like in Lost Ark they complain about having so much "homework" as they call it, it's taking over their time and lives and it's unhealthy. There they complain about having too much repetitive content they have to do to keep up or risk being gatekept out of new content entirely by the other players.

But you can develop content that doesn't gatekeep. Bozja is an example. It was fun, midcore and you can skip right over it if you want to get to endwalker.

I'd support them developing this type of content for sure. I didn't personally enjoy Bozja but it seems a good number did, so that is fair feedback.

It really does seem to be so common now for people to say the best thing about the game is that they don't play it, but in a good way

If you want to dismiss what I said by calling it "gaslighting" so you don't have to think further, by all means. I am a casual player and I can still find hours a day of things to do if I want to, and for the past few months have. (I still have many classes to level, so just doing all the roulettes alone is already a HUGE chunk of time for someone who isn't 90 everything).

No I call it gaslighting as your trying to push the idea that having more content makes the game a job which is an outright lie

I can see how you think I said that, but that was not my intention. I'm just saying I like the general lack of grind needed to stay somewhat current. I personally do not want or need to be playing FFXIV 40+ hours a week. But sure, they could add more content that doesn't require this.

I don't play the game? I have 1000 hours logged in XIV. A lot of which was since Endwalker.

Before I typically just finished the story *edit: and available trials/raids at the time*, levelled WHM and SMN to max and moved on until the next expansion. I'm playing more than ever. Again, way to just talk out of your butt lol.
