Do you ever wonder what kind of person creates 10+ accounts? I sort of do. I also wonder what happens to them when they start to feel frustrated with the game.

I think he's more frustrated with the fact that there are people here trying to take over his job. He used to be the sole proprietor of his craft in these forums, and now others are muscling in on his territory.
Those are alright and I liked them all, but they are just small stories compared to a whole expansion. Save the Queen was especially good. The magical role quest was really good as well and had the components like sadness, loss, and resolution. But I also liked the Black Mage, Bard and Dancer quests.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.

I think the writer specializes in fleshing out lore that's already there, so in the likelihood that we go to Meracydia, I'm expecting him to take it in a different direction than HW. Not to say there won't be dark stuff, but I'm suspecting a lot more lightheartedness instead of HW's brand of dark "here let me make you break down in tears" storytelling. Those are alright and I liked them all, but they are just small stories compared to a whole expansion. The reason they are misleading is because they collect data over several months if not longer, then compare the data versus the last collection. So it captures every single person who did anything during that time and calls them an active player, even if they only subbed for a month and then left. Plus it would capture bots who may or may not be banned, and people who get banned for other reasons.Lucky Bancho and XIVCensus pull from the lodestone to give a reference of player activity across all platforms which *gasp* is going to be more accurate than steamcharts where the extreme minority of players are at. The majority of people playing this game are playing the non-steam pc version and on console.
Edit: Plus it would consider alts as different players.
There is a massive difference between Lucky Bancho and MMO-Population. Lucky Bancho uses (at least I think) a statistical representation of lodestone activity (which are generally pretty accurate, like political surveys). MMO-Population is a bogus website that uses lazy data like the amount of reddit users that means nothing.
Each expansion grew Lucky Bancho's average data by 200,000. EW grew by closer to double that. I agree that the events in 2021 are unlikely to happen again and that therefore the spike won't be as high this time, but that doesn't mean there won't be a spike.Thinking that 7.0 will surpass the Endwalker launch is an inhuman level of copium abuse, and demonstrates a complete and fundamental lack of understanding of what lead to the EW population spike in the first place.
If it grows by less than 200,000, we can say there is possibly a problem. If it grows by 200,000, we can say it's normal. If it grows by well over 200,000 we can say there has been another unusual spike.
Yes, this could cause it to be misleading, but the general trend of up and down between data sets is still useful. It has remained stable at 1.3-1.4 million for a very long time now and that suggests there is not a net decline happening, even with all of the patch lulls. The reason they are misleading is because they collect data over several months if not longer, then compare the data versus the last collection. Of course they account for bots in their statistics.Plus it would capture bots who may or may not be banned, and people who get banned for other reasons.

I’m actually interested in stories regarding the First Brood and Dragon StarNo it has not. We all know that Meracydia is about Dragons .... we all know that saving that Dragon from the 13th will leed to the next boring Dragon Story. Was Heavensward not enough Dragons? I am not bitter, I am bored .... and that is much more worse as just to be bitter.
I just find it perplexing that the statistics gathered manually by a player show a stable trend, but the statistics gathered automatically with known good accuracy (steam statistics) shows very clear ups and downs.Yes, this could cause it to be misleading, but the general trend of up and down between data sets is still useful. It has remained stable at 1.3-1.4 million for a very long time now and that suggests there is not a net decline happening, even with all of the patch lulls.
