I am fine with restricted Artifact Armor. And weapons of course. Maybe even the starter gear, whatever. But everything else should be unlocked.

It’s a good thing not to answer your enemies. I scarcely ever do. Perhaps Emily is more like me than I am like myself. Perhaps she would rather not answer her friends, even. She keeps it all in her heart.

Agreed, opening up crafter gear as glamours for combat jobs would be a neat perk for not just levelling crafters, but actually gearing them somewhat even if you don't actually intend to make stuff seriously.

Other than weapons, the only restriction on glamour should be that you have to be able to equip it on the appropriate job first. Let me use my Copied Factory caster dress on dancer, damnit!

Pretty much how FF11 does it. That and I wish I could apply glamour plates everywhere like I can in FF11...

At least that part's being worked on. Having to be in a sanctuary is better than having to be in a major city.

Role restrictions are a bit different. You won't catch me arguing that healers shouldn't be wearing heavy armor, or tanks shouldn't be wearing robes. I recognize that mine own D&D approach to glamour choices doesn't have to fit everyone else's mold.

However, the issue is actually that gear tied to roles have stats, which conflicts with the game's engine. In order to make these work the way players want would require to revamp the entire glamour system. Due to the time and resources required to do this, my stance on role restrictions specifically remains the same as always.

Trust me though, I've shed many tears on options that are not available due to role restrictions, so I feel the pain here.

Since most low-level caster gear is usable by all classes, you can easily create a tank wearing robes as glamour.
And then there is the tank gear from the dungeon Shisui of the Violet Tides.

No, there is really no good arguments for any restrictions on glamour.

There could possibly, maybe, be some technical problem with using some glamour where your current job couldn't wear the actual gear piece, but if there is it should be fixed.

You're approaching from an angle that my stance is tanks shouldn't be wearing robes when my last post specifically states this is not my argument or reasoning.

I just provided a technical constraint as to why you can't take e.g. a lv80 maiming set and glamour it to your healer. The take on "we should just be able to, because reasons." is irrelevant. Sorry. I'm not trying to be rude or combative. Some restrictions are necessary in order to save time among other valid reasons.

Then you expressed yourself unclearly. Too many negatives in one sentence probably.

I don't know how the code looks, but there is really very little or no technical reason to have restrictions on glamour. If it is currently not possible, and it would take more than one day to fix it, then they have badly written code in the first place. If anything the code should become simpler and ever so slightly more efficient by removing restrictions on glamour.
