The Next Housing District

I recently wandered through the Dravanian Hinterlands (the area outside of Idyllshire) and thought this could be a nice area to consider for a housing district. I know a lot of people who would like Old Sharlayan, but how about New Sharlayan? lol might need a better name…

We could have another restoration phase similar to Firmament where we help the goblins and friends rebuild Idyllshire and the surrounding areas. There’s plenty of space off to the sides and back of Idyllshire that this could be accomplished.

But it has evergreen trees, lakes, waterfalls and streams, big rocks… it could be a more wilderness-style Lavender Beds, and we could get Sharlayan style architecture, housing items, those cool blue stone roads…

We already have 3 mostly stone/marble residential districts… Lavender Beds and Shiro are the ones that really have any natural beauty feel, so let’s balance it out with a third! Just look at this place! I’m sure some wonderful plots could be created…

I'm really very fond of Old Sharlayan personally, and would love a district based around there.

I'm happy enough with my current house I can't think of any place I'd want the next district to be.

If the question was where do I think it would be, Radz-at-Han would be my guess. It could be given a very different look from the current districts and lorewise Thavnair is still rebuilding from the Final Days. They would want to attract adventurers to help.

Radz and Garlemald are both great ideas! And any of these could have that restoration phase for leveling higher-level crafters. Not that the next district necessarily needs to have that, but I remember having a lot of fun when Firmament first came out and everyone on the servers were working together to get through the rebuilding phases.

Just wandering through certain areas and being reminded of how beautiful some places are… and trying to take my mind off the depressing housing lottos! lol Much as I want to see instanced and will continue to campaign for it, I have a feeling they’ll probably just add another 6 wards and then drop a new housing district eventually, so I’m putting some ideas out there. lol

Given that all housing districts are in major hub cities, unless they break that trend, there are four options. There's the Crystarium, Old Sharlayan, and whatever cities we get in 7.0 and 8.0. It will almost certainly not be the Crystarium, as its very existence is a massive spoiler, so that leaves Old Sharlayan and two cities we haven't seen yet.

I wouldn’t mind Old Sharlayan either as long as they kept some of the nature in there and it’s not all marble. lol there’s some nice little streams and stuff running through the back paths. Idyllshire was the tome city when it was new though. The reason I suggested that as a Sharlayan-themed district rather than Old Sharlayan itself, was that I couldn’t see a place they could put it, though I’m sure there’s probably parts of the island we haven’t seen. I’ll have to look around the outskirts of town when I got on tonight.

The only main city left without a housing district is Radz at Han.
They'll never make housing districts in Old Sharlayan and the Crystarium for lore reasons.

I did go look at Old Sharlayan tonight, and there is space though… to the North and East sides of the map, there are trails going up the hill and around the side, blocked by gates you can’t pass through. Lore-wise, without going into spoilers, I think after the EW MSQ, they’re a little more open to outsiders than they were originally.

If they do make it there though, I really hope they keep in the trees, the rocks, the waterfalls and little ponds. If it’s all just the marble around the center of town, personally it won’t hold any appeal for me.
