One correction here... 4 shards, starting with 13 shards, 7 calamities means 7 rejoinings, which means those are just gone, plus the First and the Thirteenth subtract another 2, this leaves us with 4 completely unexplored shards.
I cannot help but think of the level of disastrous decision making that has led us to the point where the game world is so unattractive that we have to seriously consider going off to other shards in order to get something of a story worth sticking around for. I suppose that comes with the territory when you let individual writers do away with so much of the setting as a means to prop up their favorite characters, something I would have thought obvious and ought to have been stopped during Endwalker's preproduction phase.
The Source as it is now does not hold enough interesting material for another 10 years. Rather than allowing Garlemald to play any major role in the future in the style of a post-Vayne Arcades, that nation's future was unceremoniously wrapped up in the Endwalker final role quest that drew large amounts of ire from fans of Garlemald - which by all rights should have gotten its own expansion centered on it. But no, we just had to rush headfirst into the story that ended up with 800 pages worth of criticizing how lacklustre it was.
Shard jumping shouldn't be the solution here, but unless decisions such as the fate of Garlemald are revisited and rewritten in order to make the Source more interesting then by all means get us out of it and into a new world entirely.

I am puzzled that aveyond-dreams original premise, "much has been done to undermine confidence in FFXIV this expansion", is accepted so readily as Truth.
Was the "much has been done" deliberate? A matter of taste in games on the part of aveyond-dreams? Can it be easily corrected utilizing the current structure of the game, or does it require a complete overhaul of everything that makes FFXIV what it is today?
Dissatisfaction is one thing. But to assert that a company would deliberately sabotage their own property because it doesn't fit your ideas of what you want it to be doing is a bit ... much.
Perhaps the premise should have read "there are a lot of things I personally find distasteful about the current game, enough that it undermines my own confidence in the development team"?
Feel free to correct that statement, aveyond-dreams, with one better fitting your actual premise while still holding to that truth: it is your opinion, however formulated. I personally think I've gotten closer to what you attempted to convey.
He doesn't come right out and say "I speak for the community" but the phrases like "overarching consensus" "the majority of the playerbase" "the obvious truth" "nobody wanted to X" and other absolutes are constantly peppered through the things he says. A lot of us here give feedback and make it a point to use terms like "I" or make it clear that it's our opinion and others are free to differ. That's not something that he tends to do. His opinions are never his own. They have to be communal. And I think people could look past that as just ego if he didn't also insult anyone who doesn't agree with him with passive aggressive remarks like "those of us who like something more adult" when talking about current story as he's done in other threads and don't even get me started on the "this person is a 3" thread.
Nobody wants to try to debate with someone who is going to dismiss what they say and insult their differing point of view before they even get to make it. So that history is why some people are bristling in this thread. The first post in this thread is probably the most neutral I've seen him and if we can get more like that, then I think he wouldn't get the same reactions.
how about updating this crappy forum to something this century. As it is, it;s 1995 all over again.
I think this is one of the only video games forum (people can feel free to prove me wrong) that actually limits its users to like 15 or 20 messages per 24 hrs, never seen that before, and thank god for that, what a terrible system to have
Oh you're having a discussion about what could be improved in the game or some new housing areas ? Haha ! You reached your daily quota of posts, you can respond in 24 hrs !
It appears we shall have to wait longer for any of this feedback to be addressed. I should have thought FFXVI would be done having events by now, only to find out that the team is now in Spain.

No I think that's good actually. People need to be told to stop posting at some point.I think this is one of the only video games forum (people can feel free to prove me wrong) that actually limits its users to like 15 or 20 messages per 24 hrs, never seen that before, and thank god for that, what a terrible system to have

Nah, that isn't what is 'needed' at all. Especially when in many MMO's, the ability to post on the forum is precisely how some people come to befriend like-minded players. It's how I met many of my contacts not only in this game but in WoW and TESO as well.
This is not me saying the forums don't need attention because it totally does but. . .I think this is one of the only video games forum (people can feel free to prove me wrong) that actually limits its users to like 15 or 20 messages per 24 hrs, never seen that before, and thank god for that, what a terrible system to have

Spout less negative nonsense towards your fellow players and you'll have plenty of daily posts left.
