How to Restore Confidence in FFXIV

I will muster every ounce of positivity left in me to say that if the reason EW is terrible is because the graphics update is massive, comprehensive, and all encompassing. I.E. lighting, shaders, textures, polygon counts, animations, ray tracing, DLSS/FSR and it is a fundamental overhaul. Then it will have been worth it.

So long as 7.0 is complete departure of what's been happening. Do I think this is the case? No. But if it is, then for me at least, it will have been worth it. Undoubtedly though, we need a change of pace or this game at least as an MMO game and not an RP venue paradise is done for.

Content is utterly disposable.

I wanted to see more of Dalmasca and the adjacent zones (especially Valnain), i understand the Save the Queen sidequest is over and you have certain characters endings/fates in the field notes but still.

People said the same thing about WoD but came back for Legion. Same thing for BFA and SL but came back for Dragonflight.

Its funny but I doubt the dramatics people say here will really be "final" as they say they are. And even then people already have gotten much investment into this game that theyll be here for the long haul. Of course some few make good on their word and leave for good but the reality is if WoW was able to have such huge Ls (much worse than the Ls of FFXIV have had mind you) Im confident that this game will do just fine anyway.

One thing they can do that would restore my confidence? redeem the Ancients and give them the respect they deserved! Allow us to befriend that remainder of the sundered Ascians, allow us to learn more about their world from them so we can begin to shape our world in that image.

Something big would have to happen for me to lose confidence in it, but I'm talking about something truly huge that hasn't even crossed your mind and that doesn't even seem in the cards, so I'm not worried.

Before ya'll jump on me: Could there be improvements? Yeah, and I hope there are. I've just never cared too much about doom & gloom posting.

I'm not playing anymore. The only reason I even log in now is as a favor to a friend that can't play at the moment. They're concerned their FC will fall into the wrong hands - or worse, they'll lose the house.

That said, you appear to conflate lack of trust in a game and its developers with complete lack of interest. I obviously still care about the product on some level, otherwise I wouldn't engage with the forums at all. I just happen to believe I see which way the wind is blowing.

Except the forum access requirements actually prove otherwise (you need to not only have an active subscription to the game to login to the forum, you need to have also last logged into FFXIV no more than fourteen days previously to login and post in the forum - it throws up a login error telling you exactly that if you don't.).

Sorry to jump back to that, but I think some people just love to complain, and would even pay money playing a game they clearly hate and know won't change to suit their preferences just to complain about it. *Shrugs* It's their money I guess...
