Even WoW had its low points, so for me its like....whatever, FFXIV is just going through its low Points Phase (which people will argue happened at X time) maybe next time they'll have a better idea, or a more busy one.While this is definitely on the easier side of relics we have done, I don't think making an exploratory zone is mandatory to make something a grind, after all people still complain about the ARR relic and it has no such thing tied to it. Also let's be honest here, if they did add another Exploratory this time people would be complaining about it just the same, there is no pleasing everyone and that's just the way it is.
I hated Explore Zones in Stormblood, hoped they'd never do it again. Did it again in Shadowbringers to my Disappointment...but I actually really liked it that time. Them not doing it again this time Im kinda happy, because 3 times in a row would have been boring. And people complain about just doing the same thing Over-and-Over again. But hey, I guess the Repetition of Explore Zones is more some peoples styles here.
Im not to surprised or really hurt about the next step if its true to just be another Tome Grind, I just want to actually know from the Devs if its a thing or not 1st.
And...yeah, I agree with one person that they could have tied to something abit like Criterion. One of the biggest gripes was the lack of Worthwhile rewards. Part of a Relic step would have been a decent reward and get more people into it, if not BACK into it.
Unfortunate. We got like, what 1 or 2 more steps till the end of the Expansion? If they dont already have it mapped, hopefully they'll have a better idea and possibly give us a more interesting and harder Final Step.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

once this all converts to poetics itll all be even easier AND you can get these relics done before your roulettes get you to lvl 95
I'll take a half ass grind this expac if I can get a full ass grind next expac. I do think exploratory zones are theoretically at their best when they are at least 1 expac apart. But what do I know. Regardless, they need to make whatever the grind content is FUN. Maybe I've just been playing too long but once you've learned this game's tricks, there isn't a whole lot to look forward to.
Woo! This makes me happy. Only relic series I kept up with given how dull the old grinds were.
I honestly don't really mind that much, if anything this is a big W for me, I don't enjoy massive relic grinds where you'd just be doing a bunch of pointless stuff. Both are grinds anyway, the new relic is just a lot less obnoxious, at least with 1500 tomes theirs a lot more "content" to get it.
Yes theirs a content issue right now (being theirs nothing fun to do lol), but spamming fates or a single thing to get your next relic step isn't going to make the game feel less dull to me.

Variant Dungeons and Normal Raids from both Asphodelos/Abyssos are good examples of content that could use the boost in players doing those activities, and are current expansion content that is kind of left dead after its served its purpose.
People doing Variant dundgeons means more people can do all 12 paths without having to do it solo.
People doing Raids helps newer players in DF trying to queue up to get their quests completed.
Thats all the issue is, There is no direction, they just dump it infront of you and say 'here, do exactly what you have been doing for the last year and a half and you WILL LIKE IT (or go unsub)'

I wish the rewards for Asp/abys were higher in general (obviously they're "quicker" but you get a disproportionate amount) you don't get a lot of Tomes from raids and trials so you end up spamming dungeons when you're out of dailies for extra tomes, I'm already sick of seeing the expert dungeons, pretty sure variant also just gives you less then expert, I'd really enjoy some forms of content at least, maybe even a system where you could get some extra tomes or stuff when you haven't played a duty in a while (insane I know). I personally just found the previous relic grinds more annoying then anything exciting or fun.
It's clear that Variant dungeons are just going to be neglected and not brought back in 7.0 we'll get "oh no one played it anyway!" when it's because the rewards were lacking, Heck even making older content more fun and relevant would be nice, but no one wants to play when half your skills are took away and older content feels awful anyway.
Varity is there, but the issue is a lot of it isn't even fun or the fun stuff doesn't even properly reward you.
