It’s Time… Open FC-Only Wards to Private Buyers on NA Worlds

There’s no mediums and larges left, which is what most FCs really want. All that’s there are smalls that have seen zero bids for about 8 lottos now, maybe more, I’m losing count. Patch 6.4 would be a good time to look at opening these FC-only smalls up to private buyers. Granted this will only add about 30 new smalls to most residential areas, so it’s just a band-aid on the overall scarcity problem.

At this point, the FCs have had their pick, and the private market is dying out. Having FC-only wards is only going to encourage people to create solo FCs because that will be the only way to get a house.

What we really need is an added instanced system to handle the overflow of all the people who haven’t been able to win a lotto in the wards. But that could be a long-time coming, if ever. Failing that, we could use an extra 6 wards… there’s just enough space for that on the current directory UI.

But bottom line, we’re still seeing double-digit bids for small plots, and there’s not enough opening up from auto-demo to go around.

As someone who owns a large FC house in Ishgard, it's kinda saddening in our ward that only the other larges and mediums stay around, and a few "good spot" smalls that the owners are content with being a group of friends. All the other spots stay empty. At the same time I'll see a small go up where my personal is and there will be close to 50 bids on some- IN THE GOBLET. Instead of letting the plots rot, let people buy them for personals. They already had them up too long that "shell fcs" can grab them.

I honestly despise the notion of "shell Fcs" which some continue to tell me is not really effecting the housing market; but it very much is and really I would just like Square to make a decision on it. As it stands Shell FCs are fine with SE it seems as there is NO WAY they cannot determine how many FCs your the master of on 1 subscription..

The most recent census i saw showed the "shell FCs"(defined as FCs with 4 or less members if i recall correctly) were roughly 4% of the housing market. Most of the people saying that it isnt really effecting the market probly saw the same thing.

If your complaint is that the ward is empty and nobody is buying many of the plots I'm not understanding why you mention shell fcs. Doesn't sound like anyone is bothering to make them to get a house if most of the plots are sitting empty with no bids.

Housing was originally supposed to be an FC feature, not a personal one, and has numerous important functions for an FC. A few FC house plots sitting there waiting for new FCs to take them means the system is working as intended.

SE could switch 3 of 7 of the FC only wards to split use and still have a sufficient supply reserved for FCs in the remaining 4 wards. The FCs are not filling up that quickly on most worlds.

But I don't see them doing it. They need players to make the decision to transfer to the new worlds to reduce log in queues for 7.0's release and house ownership is the only real incentive to offer. Players already survive the queues at Endwalker's release and know they'll survive 7.0. Most probably see dealing with the queues for a couple of weeks as better than uprooting their characters and moving to a New world.

At this point it's just throwing a tantrum in the toy aisle. Just because something exists doesn't mean it needs to be equally available to you. New FCs happen, even on locked servers. They are more important than the locust plague that will take all the houses in one round and return right back to the status quo. Might soothe them to need to find a new dead horse to beat, but it won't solve a goddamned thing.

The system is working fine as it is, there aren’t that many fc only wards at this point, most were open as unrestricted for personal and fc.

Even if they did open them, they will all be gone in a single round, and then what ? Back to square one and you’ll ask for them to open the remaining ones, and once that’s done then what ?

Leave the FC only wards alone, there’s barely any of them already.
