We really need more stuff like Paradox, Fleeting/Forked Raiju, etc that changes up the core rotation because simply throwing in more and more one/two minute OGCDs that are either buffs or bloated potencies do little to improve the overall rotation while just tying progressively more DPS to getting good crit/DH RNG within burst windows.

And that's why they don't want to change it, because they don't want to play a game of back-and-forth between "give us synchronized buff timings!" and "unhomogenize things!"
This makes sense. From my perspective I feel the same about it as with every other form of content coming out or change being made-- why are we making a subscription based title easier and easier in every possible way? I understand some people don't have time or the same skill levels, but at what point is the game so accessible and so casual that it's impacting their potential revenue? I just don't understand it from a purely financial perspective. I don't think the game needs to be FOMO level addiction, deep character customisation, total grind fest. But I don't feel like the devs care at all about retaining players post MSQ or long term engagement in general. It's like they look at completion rates and think they did a good job. But if everything is accessible for every skill level I would think that leads to more unsubbing vs less.

It's 10 years later and tbh, with its output and changes, XIV outright feels like a F2P game imo.

Which IMO was an incorrect decision since the group complaining about it was one of the smaller niche groups of the game's population. Honestly they should have just told them to "Git Gud" and focused more on making the jobs themselves more interesting and fun for the people not obsessed with a spreadsheet filled with numbers from a 3rd party tool they told ppl not to use in the first place.

It worked so far because for every disgruntled veteran quitting you had 2 or more new players joining. They have 10 years of updates, story and a learning curve that isn't told anywhere in the actual game to go through (seriously, what other mmo tries as hard to obfuscate information as this one?), so it will take them a very long time to notice that gameplay-wise XIV is basically unseasoned rice gruel.

That's what both the devs and a lot of people here don't seem to understand.
It was neither the actual hardcore raiders nor the "casual" players asking for this, they did just fine with the old system by either "getting good" or ignoring it entirely because it was never required for them.
It has really only benefitted wannabe try-hards who think of themselves as the best thing since sliced bread without actually putting any of the effort in that the old combat required, an incredibly niche group that exists somewhere between the two.

i think part of the problem is that people who are happy tend to be quiet versus the sweaty folks who are not only loud but also annoying, so the feedback tends to lean towards negativity because we tend to be quiet when something is not that much of an issue. which isn't the most terrible thing sometimes, but other times, it does end up like this.....probably because the people happy with the state of something aren't even thinking it's a problem to anyone else in the first place to come to places like this and rebut them to show that the percentage of people unhappy are actually really small asfsaasdf i imagine anyway

Every group is a small niche compared to overall population until they get loud enough to not be ignorable, and being louder doesn't mean being any less small.

To be honest the 2m meta itself doesn't bother me as much as its affects on the game in a larger sense.

A lot of jobs are honestly kinda boring outside of their 2m burst, or feel like you're just sorta doing pointless filler til the next burst, this also means deaths are cripplingly punishing. Not only do you get the death debuff, you missed a burst window, and your skills are permanently misaligned for the rest of the encounter.

I like a challenge but a lot of Endwalker has felt very punishing, very "do it perfect or start over".

That is however the core issue with the 2-min meta and why it needs to go. EVERYTHING is designed around it, the jobs, the boss mechanics, all funneled into that 2-minute window with bugger all going on in-between.
