How relevant can HW numbers be at this point when we are 3 expansions past that point now, with the 2 minute meta being a worse received and longer lasting problem than any metrics from an exp from 2015?
It's all relative. You could argue it is worse recieved, but it appears to me like proportionally, a lot less people negatively complain about it than the people complaining about things that got changed back in the day.

My biggest complaint about this 2-minute meta is that, for basically 90% of the game where it doesn't really matter, you get desynced in casual play with walking between bossfights and trash or even just a simple thing as not paying attention and dying just once - your dps ends up in the gutter for the remainder of the fight/instance.
Deaths are prohibitably punishing now and pray to god you don't drift in some way or another to miss that one 15second buff window and forget to faceroll on your keyboard to press 30 buttons in those 15seconds so you can go back to press 1-5 buttons until the next buff window to repeat the whole process.
You better play absolutely perfect or you fall off - this is a very concerning direction this game's heading which is further focused on their "successful" contents like criterion savage where you have to play perfect as well but I digress...
this game has to step away from its "perfect choreographed" design or it will never change. At this point I'm hoping they're already developing the next mmorpg with hopefully more dynamic battles.
