The Last Resort for Housing and Hoarders

    edit:
I didn't mean the title so pretend it's "Last Resort" not Final Solution, I literally didn't know the history of the term until now, my bad.
Limited virtual houses are a sought-after commodity. They are in high demand, and many players spend a lot of time and effort trying to obtain them. However, some players may obtain these houses and not decorate them, leaving them vacant and unused. In this case, there is a convincing argument for why these limited virtual houses should be demolished.

Firstly, they are in high demand and there are many players who are unable to obtain them due to their limited availability. When a player has a limited virtual house but is not decorating it or using it, they are essentially taking up space that could be better used by another player who is eager to own a virtual house.

Secondly, a virtual house that is not decorated or used is not contributing to the community aspect of the game. FF14 is a social game, and players often gather in housing areas to show off their decorating skills and interact with other players. A vacant virtual house does not contribute to this sense of community and can be seen as a waste of valuable virtual real estate.

Finally, demolishing houses that aren't decorated can also provide an opportunity for players who missed out on obtaining a house in the past to have a chance at obtaining one. When vacant virtual houses are demolished, they become available for purchase again, allowing new players to have a chance at obtaining a limited virtual house.

In conclusion, limited virtual houses in FF14 should be demolished if players are not decorating or using them. Doing so will allow for a better distribution of virtual housing, contribute to the community aspect of the game, and provide new players with an opportunity to obtain a highly sought-after commodity.

We will also need GMs to inspect them.

it is unfair for players to hold onto a house without making use of it or decorating it. By enforcing decoration, GMs can ensure that houses are being utilized to their full potential. Decorated houses can enhance the gameplay experience for all players, as they can be used for socializing, events, and other activities. By encouraging decoration, GMs can motivate peoople to create a more immersive and enjoyable game world for everyone. Decorating a virtual house can be a fun and creative activity, and by requiring players to decorate their houses, GMs can encourage players to explore their creative side and create unique and interesting spaces. Without an enforcement of decoration, some players may hoard multiple houses just to prevent others from having access to them. By enforcing decoration, GMs can prevent hoarding and ensure that houses are being used fairly and equitably.

Overall, while some players may not like the idea of GMs inspecting houses and enforcing decoration, it can promote fairness, enhance gameplay experience, encourage creativity, and prevent hoarding.
It is necessary because people keep getting houses only not to decorate afterwards.

I think GMs should remove these AI-generated threads.

the GMs in this game and the so called "task force" cant even help people that are getting stalked, and ban the hundreds of bots under Limsa that are rampant every single day, and you think they will inspect everyone's house to see if they are decorated ?

also what people do with their houses once they got them, is their problem, not yours, you are free to move from Balmung if you want a house, Dynamis is wide open.

also just as a quick tldr of op for people reading this thread : "pls take people's houses because i want one ty"

Can we all just agree that "fair" is a subjective term based totally on opinion, and doesn't automatically make your argument valid?

So lets apply this logic to other things. You've got all jobs to 90, but how long has it been since you played that one? Your gear is three patches behind. Clearly you're not using it, so we're dropping you back to 80 on that job. After all, it wouldn't be fair for the other people in your party for you to play that job and not know what you're doing.

What about Firmament titles? Some people have those on alts. Lets get rid of alt titles, because those were limited, and its not fair that someone could get one on their alt when some people couldn't even get one on their main.

Are you going for a drop? That's another limited resource in certain things. Better hope someone with a lower ilevel doesn't need it too. After all, it wouldn't be fair for you to get that small upgrade when it would be a large upgrade for them.

Final solution? lol not to mention the connotation that phrase has, but we already have auto-demo and it still hasn’t solved the supply issue.

I’d agree that ward houses not in use for months on end should be demoed. The game has no way of knowing whether you’re just on a long break or whether you’ve quit altogether, hence the automatic timer, which is easily reset if you’re just on a break but want to keep your house.

But inspections? Really? I mean even if they did do this, people would just get someone to decorate it and still leave it sit basically unused. What does that solve? Yes as someone who loves decorating, it makes me sad to see a house empty and unused when someone else could give it more use and love. But it’s a symptom of the overall problem of scarcity. I’m sure there’s a very large chunk of homeowners right now who have that house just because they might want to do something with it someday, but they know how few houses are available so they’re just basically holding onto what they were able to get. Because there’s no guarantee they’d be able to get another in the future.

The problem here is scarcity. There should be enough houses for every player on a server to have one, and whatever they do with it is their business. The only real solution I see to the problem is to add instanced housing alongside the wards. They could add another 6 wards tomorrow and see them filled by this time next week! And people aren’t going to move… those that were willing already went to Dynamis, and some are even leaving it now that Crystal has been reopened. More wards aren’t going to solve the problem. And auto-demo is like a band-aid on a gushing arterial wound.

Thank you, you've convinced me to leave the medium I got last round completely undecorated, except for one junkmonger to sell sub drops to.

lol, they had one house to go check on that was reported by the masses (we all know what I'm talkin' about) and to this day, they didn't even do anything about that. They are seriously not trying to be bothered looking at the inside of multiple houses, lol.

Auto-demolition did solve a problem. Just not the problem the players wanted it to solve. It solved a problem for SE though: How do you keep players paying for a game they aren't playing?

9000 plots per server with ~70 servers is ~630,000 plots. Make some commodity rare and guarantee about $9.5M in monthly revenue, regardless of who is playing the game. That's $113M/year just so people can own digital real estate. Whoever thought of that idea at SE was probably promoted to director.
