In the Hall of Flames now and I can confirm that its 25k for the promotion and also 25k for the weapons DX

I think 25k is alright, I'm sitting on 42k and I do chocobo escort like every fortnight or so, and I bought 2 lvl 50 GC weapon (the Corporal rank ones), 2 Sergeant Weapons, all chocobo armour and other GC accessories. I know people who sit on 45k before the change in chocobo escort reward.
