As I read it: The pet will be a companion that you train by developing skills. It is not a Summoner type of class.

Really? Ohhhh, that's interesting! Where can I find that?

But the poll still does mention "avatar" in it. That's all I'm trying to say really. The use of "avatar" is a throwback to the Summoner class of Final Fantasy XI.

Actually the chocobo is not "one of the pets" your chocobo will fall under a different system call the buddy system. No matter what class or job you are on through the buddy system you can raise and train your chocobo to fight along side you. The SMN job will be able to summon avatars and the such from the interviews that Yoshi has given.

Look through the translation thread... Reinheart put up some really good translated Japanese interviews. Also the buddy system was mentioned in a number of the E3 interviews along with summoning... ^^ good luck!

It was only after crazy research that I decided to come back to this thread with a major headache to find you links xD Thanks for the links! The buddy system sounds completely fascinating but I have yet to find much about Summoners in Yoshi's own words. Oh well, reading best saved for another day xD Thanks so much for your help <3
