Pretty sure that’s not the point that people are making but okay ? Since you used wow, what do people subscribe for in wow ? They subscribe for the content, what do people subscribe for in ffxiv ? A huge amount of people only subscribe to hang out and go to venues, and a smaller percentage subscribes to do the content (feel free to compare the amount of venues compared to parties in party finder), is that normal ? Not really, that means that the content is not up to par and is mediocre, also my thing in this game is housing so if you think I care about people doing erp or whatever I really don’t, however that doesn’t paint a good image of the game, no.

I was making an observation about something you could show to random people in the street to find that normal people would recoil in disgust from or crack a joke over. It's not a great thing for the game to be known for in the grand scheme of things and I've spoken to a fair few people who gave it a pass on that basis alone.

I'd wager the people who lash out and downplay the issue of creepy, predatory venues and dubious alterations to the game are the ones who are 'upset' around these parts. For starters, the game has players who are underage or who simply do not want to be exposed to other people's explicit fetishes out of the blue...

That's not being a prude, that's common legal sense.

Such people doing their own thing in private could be tolerated. Yet the game is now catering to them directly at the expense of those of us who...want an actual game.

You do realize WoW has a huge rp scene with its infamous servers like Moonguard. Actually you're right let's put that to the test. How many people you find hanging around in major cities compared to out in the world? As somebody who's currently playing retail WoW, I never fail to see huge population of players in Stormwind while when you're out in the open world you see the usual few out and about. Certainly more than what you see in FFXIV's open world but the fact that people still log in and have dedicated huge rp venues kinda helped kept the game relevant and afloat.

Also PF is only there for having to make very specific runs for content because FFXIV's DF is so integrated into everything, that people dont need to shout LFG in party finder in order to do most content. Not saying that FFXIV's current content is better than WoW's oh yeah hell no, but lets actually be real here. If you're worrying about the game's "image" then that's really telling just how shallow you are being

Wow’s rp scene is nowhere near as big as FFXIV’s, I played wow for 14 years, on multiple servers, including both rp and rp-pvp, of course there are rp communities, but they aren’t as big as you make it to be because people are playing the actual game and doing actual content instead of afking in cities 24/7.

I invite you to compare FFXIV’s PF and wow’s group finder, it ain’t a small difference let me tell you, one game is focused almost fully on the social aspect and venues/erp whatever else, while the other is extra focused on content, actually playing the game.

Personally I don't care if people RP, I really don't, and if they add life to the game all the better. I like areas being populated. However, to me RP should be side content, and something thats there but the game keeps people hustling and doing official game activities for the most part, because, the official game activities are interesting enough.

Now in FFXIV that isn't the case. And so I find it sad that RP is kind of the main dish. Hence I complain. I want fun game activities and thats what most people want as well.
