There is no way, imo, they could make enough large and medium houses to suddenly not have that problem- so many dead, super dead, wards to sustain that.

I have to ask this, and Id really like some honest answers: Why is everyone so fixated on large and medium? I ask this because, on Kujata at least , on my ward ALONE are maybe 11 smalls no one has touched in months. Loads more in other wards.

How did I get mine? I walked up and bid on it with ZERO competition. So you cant get a large or medium, isnt a house a house? I just dont get it....

Because smalls are barely larger than an appartment and will bind you to the game. The outdoor area is so small its only really useful to place a training dummy and for gardening, pretty much no room for decorating. I regret winning my small.

Good question- for some there may not be a reason. Besides what the other person said, also I wanted to add that FC share this space. A small for a person who wants tight and cozy may be fine with a small, but a FC of decent scale would be like "what is this, a school for ants?".

Size also is just simply an opportunity that is denied, and let's be fair.. just having the ability to do something even if you don't intend to is simply nice. Being told impossible just kind of sucks. Then ads onto that the concept and monkey providing joy of progression that we almost all have- inelegant or impossible progression. So two elements of psychological impact.

Don't discount that physiological layer either... imo I believe it's a very potent part of it- in marketing or just general life with brands you can see where "the good stuff" gets a form of magical elevation. Heck in our own balance due to bean counting savage and ultimate... "You do 5% less damage, trash job" lol.

So for feature and social reasons, but also for physiological and opportunity reasons. Beyond that we have many MMOs that are able to do what is desired so it goes into looking at literally greener grass and wishing you had it. Which I want to say simply because one feature is worse or better doesn't mean someone wants to switch games lol. Games are not one feature but a collection of them. But when you look at like nearly 50 houses ESO where you can own every single one of them, and then barely 1 house not in the location or size you wanted FFXIV it makes you scrunch your nose.

Hence why I've always been for highly customizable scalable instanced housing that is able to meet the demand put upon it. Wards will always fall short in major ways in the system they are in- technically they could add instanced plots in wards like phasing seen in BDO or other games, but the system /as is/... will never be enough.

I think it's because, in part, of the narrative context given to it, like and Sadu and Cirina coming over to our island would make zero sense at least before Stormblood, so at minimum it needs to be locked to 4.1+, and maybe they are planning to have something like Loporrits or Sharlayans to come over on rank 14 so that'd lock it behind EW.

Maybe cap ranks to MSQ, then you can move some portion of it earlier? Makes sense to start it later to see if the servers can handle it lol, but if possible moving it sooner sounds logical.

I've enjoyed the content thus far but do hope to see tweaks earlier on to mix up the gameplay loop. I know they are adding more later (at the top end) which is nice, but I feel the bottom could be thicc-er too .

Because you're on JP. JP has much less people per server.

316 open slots! Except that vast majority are FC houses. If you count individual plots, then let's see, 1, 2, 3... 14 houses! One of them is even M. Rest of small have average of ~6 bidders (not super accurate data, data are crowdsourced).

So yeah, many of NA/EU servers don't even have small houses available. On average, JP seems to have 500-1000 of available individual plots, while NA/EU 50-100, with more popular servers not even 20.

There's also the fact that if you're interested in interior design then small houses, especially the item limit, are very restrictive.

Before the system change people still bought small plots, because that meant you had your foot in the door and as soon as a medium became available you could relocate to it from your small house.


Nowadays there is literally no point for people to buy a small if their actual goal is a medium or large.

So yes, if the game isn't releasing content people actually want to do that is a very real issue.

hmm miss the mark might be a way to put it but honestly only problem with Criterion dungeon is the rewards the groundwork we have for it is perfectly fine

Island sanctuary gonna be much better for so many people when it'll have outdoor housing items for it actually having an incentive to visit other peoples island because itll actually be different
