You've kind of touched on a point that I feel is the core difference between XIV and other older MMOs. the older MMOs, like Everquest, created a world for you to play a role in. XIV creates a story for you to play a role in.I don't know if you were being serious or sarcastic but honestly? The answer is right here in your post BluexBird. I don't understand why more people dont get that. Many MMORPG's today and MOST MMORPG's in the 2000's (and all of them before WoW) were sand box MMO's. The developers rarely did more than create a world, and give us characters to play with. The rest was up to players. And it was wonderful.
Final Fantasy XIV is IMO the best of both worlds. We have years of spoon fed story and side quests and currencies to farm if we choose. And the venues and emotes and clothes in the game are set up perfectly to encourage player generated content too.
Other players ARE content.
The days of organising Eureka NM trains, the social aspected combat experience in the game, a thing of the past now
People would rather get more solo content that forces non-interaction with other players than play a real MMO.
We really are turning into an IMVU simulator.
Of course the Endwalker defenders made an appearance here, the yes men who allowed and cheered on this game's decline will have nobody to blame but themselves for where it ends up in the future. All that is left is for Hiroi to do something out of left field with the ending to Pandaemonium like making Themis Venat's son for me to purge everything FFXIV-related from my computer.
They threw the story away.
They threw the content away.
And we're made out to be bad guys for speaking out against this state of affairs.
Enough's enough. We tried and failed to save a sinking ship, but with the current captain intent on burning every bridge he's built over the past 10 years my trust in this game's future is in the deep negatives until proven otherwise. Hope the burgers and dancing rodents were worth it.

The issue with DC travel was letting people have too much freedom. Things like MB access, duty finder and treasure hunts/hunt trains should be locked if you are not on your home datacenter. The other option to locking these activities is giving you downsides to doing them outside of your home world, like Dungeons giving -50% experience to incentivize doing these activities on your own DC.Ah yeah, okay yeah I can get what you're putting down.
I think for me, I think the problem lies with this--if it was truly a lot of people playing the game as they say, I don't think the impact of DC travel would hit as hard as it does, IMO. Sure, there would be a noticeable hit, but not as bad as peak time on a Friday night, PF has maybe ~50-70 parties total, compared to how it was sitting at 110-120+ before DC travel. Like I said, I realize the raiding scene wasn't exactly popping on Crystal, but it wasn't like wringing a towel for its water. Seeing the decline of Crystal's PF just makes me wonder why people look at Dynamis with "it's totally alive, look!! just give it a chance!" when DC travel has totally put a thumb on a hole of ANY chance for it to you know.. start thriving.
DC travel should only allow grouping for Raids, Extreme trials and Roleplaying.
Talk about a savior complex. Of course everything you like and want in a game is the only way for it to be good and people liking anything else is just them accepting mediocrity or poor quality. You must have the finest taste and the best ideas, if only they would listen to you and follow your direction solely without hesitation, then I am sure the game would soar to unheard of heights passing all other titans of industry.Of course the Endwalker defenders made an appearance here, the yes men who allowed and cheered on this game's decline will have nobody to blame but themselves for where it ends up in the future. Stinkmeaner is at again. Dude if you dont like this game, why do you even play it for. You can go to do some Genshin or play WoW.
The thing is that he is right on certain points.Talk about a savior complex. The game is becoming very stale.
If you voice your opinion, you are immediately swamped by the casual playerbase screaming at you to go play WoW or other MMO's.
The average players are scared that any change to the game might force them to actually have to get off their ass and put some effort into playing the game, like you used to have to.
I was one those people and trust me when i say it didnt matter...white knight brigade flamed us all to hellMaybe just maybe if they had listened to those of us who rang the alarm bells back when they announced 4 month delays between patches, pointed out that beast tribes being delayed to .5 patches was unusual, that this relic grind is a joke not to mention the content its attached to, the story in the base game and in the patches is objectively the most controversial one seeing as how we've never had 800 page threads criticizing the story before, dead on arrival Criterion dungeons, the fact that we lost exploratory zones to island sanctuary...
...we'd have a decent expansion instead of one that has caused this much disappointment across all sectors of the playerbase.
Death Is Only The Beginning....
