Why do people feel the need to go the route of essentially witch-hunting players that engage in a particular activity?

If it bothers you then just simply don't engage in that particular subset of the community. Like, if you go browsing NSFW and mature content then what do you expect?

It's both funny and cringeworthy to see how some people very quickly change their mindset on how third-party tools are treated when it's an area they don't particularly like.

Or perhaps people can stop claiming that being neutral to mods is why society is crumbling (as an earlier poster did) or claiming that there's predators and groomers hiding in every single shadow like several other posters have. The hyperbole was used because it was on par of the same level of hyperbole being used by people posting in this very thread.

How does a cosmetic mod that only affects the player with the mod (and maybe the few others who can see them) affect everyone else? This really feels like a case of people, once again, not minding their own business. Everyone is always so concerned about whatever everyone else is doing, even if it has no impact on them whatsoever.

I don't care what people do. As for myself, I do wish I could engage in conversations without mare being brought up almost everytime. It seems to have become a norm to exchange Mare's upon meeting people for the first time and I don't really want to. But if you don't then people act offended or take it personally. Some seem to believe if you don't exchange mare codes, you aren't really friends or something. I kind of miss when I could use what I wanted on my client only but now everyone wants to know what's on my screen. e.e Or for me to see what's on theirs when maybe I don't wanna. It's hard to dodge in a pilot way cause like I said, some people really REALLY want to express how they see their own characters.

The deadly combination of being terminally online and a moral busybody.

Have you considered telling them to "bugger off"? Because anyone doing this certainly sounds like a pain in the ass to be around anyway.

Well, my feeling is that, it is up to the person that pays for this subscription to do whatever they want to do with it. Its their money to spend, not yours. They understand the risk and what would happen if they get caught or whatnot. But most of the stuff I see on Mare is very good and it shows that it can be put into the game and plus you have very talented folks that can do that for a living (Maybe that is the reason why they are mad about it, they cant do it right so they complain about it).

I don't care if people use mods but good lord why do they always turn their characters into the most horrifying abominations imaginable. That picture is why I hope SE never caves to the additional body slider requests. Some players will not rest until their character is the stuff of nightmares. At least with mods the rest of us don't have to suffer.

I'm going to be honest with you. I have never once been asked if I have Mare. I'm generally not that social, though, so your mileage may vary.

I have, however, been to FC parties and other in-game social gatherings, and I like hanging around Limsa when I'm done running dungeons or messing around in my sanctuary. I've received whispers from people who say they like the look of my character, but it's usually complimentary and not creepy or anything. And I have never once been asked if I have Mare.

I'm not saying this doesn't happen to you or anyone else. I'm sure it does. I just find it odd that it's never happened to me. It kind of feels like all the forum posts that complain about people showing up in high level dungeons without a job stone. This is has literally happened to me two or three times in the five years I've been playing this game. But the forums make it sound like this is a HUGE problem that happens all the time.

    It doesn't.

Or all the people that complain that tanks in pugs all single pull. I've personally encountered very few tanks who single pull in this game. Can count them on one hand. It rarely happens. Yet, the forums make it sound like it happens regularly.

Now, it's Mare. Suddenly, these threads are popping up frequently. And posts like yours are echoing each other. "I'm always asked about Mare the second I meet someone."

    Really? You are? Damn. That's....odd.

Mare Plugin has undoubtedly become a big part of how people interact in FFXIV now. More and more players are using this tool every day, and it's now common to see players in Limsa Lominsa reacting to "ghost" outfit changes and talking about custom emotes that only those with the plugin can see. Mare Plugin has become so popular that it's often one of the first things players talk about, when they join a social club. You have to understand that it creates a negative atmosphere for many players. Using the plugin goes against the game's rules and can make some players feel left out and unwelcome.

As more people use Mare Plugin, those who don't or can't use it might feel left behind and frustrated. At the moment, Mare Plugin has around 20 000 users online simultaneously, which demonstrates its significant influence. To put this into perspective, think about the daily impact of a popular streamer who consistently has an average of 20 000 viewers. It's clear that the plugin reaches and affects a tremendous number of people throughout the day. This widespread use contributes to the plugin's strong impact on the game's community as a whole. The increasing dependence on Mare Plugin has led to some people misusing the tool, which could harm the future of FFXIV. As more players use the plugin to change their gaming experience, they might cause problems in the game world and hurt the community. There is only one solution, and that is to eliminate them all, eradicate the opioid crisis! SE must take action to free Eorzea from this blight.
