Never been to one and no one has ever harassed me to go to one. So I don't see an issue.

Sounds like the target audience they wanted to attract with all the over simplification of gameplay and content design. As long as they toss out a few new things to glamour here and there, those people will remain happy and pay their subscription. >.>
I like the second link posted because I use it to visit cafes.
This would be an acceptable compromise. In the current state, we have adults who can't keep their pants on, chasing modern illogical "fetishes" ruining the whole game for teens and reasonable adults.Create 1 or 2 18+ RP Servers, that require age verification, maybe make sure its moderated so nothing illegal happens.
And just leave them to their devices away from the rest of the game and away from people who want no part of it.
Thats just me though. If SE and Co. disagree, its their game.
I see it as a product of a devteam doing the bare minimum. If we had more than 3 dripfed patches of content a year then maybe player-made content like this wouldn't be so prevalent. Same with the mods. A lot of them are just outfits and haircuts. Maybe if SE released haircuts more often, players wouldn't be scrambling to get it from other people. I just see a lot of this as players making up for the things the XIV team is too busy to care about, so I couldn't care less. If SE decides to spontaneously ban people for embracing the social aspect of an MMO during a scheduled period of no content, then they're even stupider than I gave them credit for and they deserve to bleed subscribers. If you want people playing your game the traditional way, give us regular content updates. Otherwise, sit back and be grateful your community bothers to keep the game warm for you while you're away sleeping with ff16.
I don't even visit these venues outside of morbid curiosity btw, I think most of them are boring and mid af. but idc if others like them, and i'm capable of just ignoring ads in pf.

The open advertisement of 18+ venues should be stopped, as the game is available to minors in some countries.
But they can continue their activities behind locked doors where the general public cannot see it.
Online interactions bypass a game's ESRB rating because you can't account for how a community will act online. I think it's ultimately up to parents to just say no to their kids when they want to play online titles like these, but parents won't do their jobs anymore so now adults in their free time who go out of their way to say their clubs are adult only have to cease to exist because Timmy's got shit parents? Rubbish. Might as well shut down like 90% of the internet since it's got a lot of things that a minor shouldn't view but totally can view if he just opts to go there.

I haven't been to one of these venues, and if it weren't for the ads I see in Shout chat I might not have ever been aware they existed. So, I'm not sure I agree that they have "taken over" FFXIV in any way I've personally felt.
Literally don't care what other people are or aren't doing in places that I've never visited or ever will.
Almost all online games also have this ESRB rating warning and somehow don't have this expectation on them. Anything with online connectivity has that warning, heck Pokemon as of generation 4 forward has it. That is just a flat statement for any online game really. So if that is the case you have to then turn the games ToS and user agreements which in 14's case is very clear you agreed to behave appropriately for 13 and older.Online interactions bypass a game's ESRB rating because you can't account for how a community will act online.
