Clueless about other Currencies outside of Gil...

I have been literally side tracked and high jacked with the main story.. to actual do anything outside of getting Gil...Now that I have finished EndWalker's main story and several tissue boxes later. I realize I have not a clue about currency to take my gear up to past level 575

Can any one point me to a really good source of explanation about tomes and sundry and all the stuff I will need to know to get better gear!

Allagan Tomestones are ancient USB storage devices. Rowena for her own reasons wants these. In turn she, or her lackeys will trade you gear.

Tomestones of Poetics are used for all level cap gear of previous expansion. Get level 50, 60, 70, etc with these. Doing old content will net you these.

Tomestones of Causality are the current tier of tomestone. You can earn up to 450 per week by doing current level cap duties. Trade them in for gear over at Radz-at-Han.
You'll also earn Tomestones of Astronomy, the last tier of tomestone. You can trade those for gear, same place, for slightly lower ilvl pieces.

In a month or so when 6.4 lands, we'll be getting Tomestones of Comedy. Astronomy will no longer be available Causality will be bumped down and you can earn as much of it as you'd like. Comedy will carry on the limit of 450 per week.


Now that's just for the currencies. You can still get better gear other ways. Be it crafted gear or loot drops from raids! Your endgame begins. Please look forward to it.

OP should also use tomestones of Astronomy to get and upgrade the Manderville weapon (3000 tomes total per job for a 630 weapon that will be upgradable again)

Tomestones are the basic way of gearing up, but not the only way, especially if you intend to do side content and/or raiding.

If you are currently at i575 you can go straight into the first tier of the Pandæmonium raid story, which will give you tokens to purchase better gear. Finish the first tier (Asphodelos), use the tokens and Astronomy tomes you earned so far to reach the required ilevel for the second tier (Abyssos), optional middle step: do the first stage of Myths of the Realm alliance raids (Aglaia) and work through post-credits MSQ to get dungeon gear along the way, do Abyssos and get tokens for even better gear. Buy what gear you can with the Abyssos tokens, do the second Myths raid (Euphrosyne) to get some gear from there, then work on filling the gaps with Causality tome gear (Lunar Envoy).

I can't remember the exact order of which thing has the higher ilevel requirement, but you get the idea. Gear yourself up just enough to get into the next layer of content you want to run, then get gear from the content before deciding what you need to buy with tomes.

Any content you run with a level 90 character will earn the two types of endgame tomestones, including roulettes that send you into older content.

You can also buy gear from the marketboard if you don't have enough tomes to upgrade and you'd rather pay gil than grind for more tomes. For the most part I prefer to avoid spending gil, but if I'm going to then the first thing to buy is a weapon, because those are the hardest or most time-consuming things to acquire from up-to-date content. Though if you've done the Hildibrand side story up to this point, you can get your base relic weapon from the continuation of it here and maybe work on upgrading it.

There is a lot to wrap my head around LOL Roulettes mostly want it seems Healers and Tanks.. LOL I am a DPS kind of girl. I do check often. I am not sure about alliance raids and frontline though I do not do well in any pvp setting. I will get there it will take some time, and I am still having a blast in this game.

You'll still be rewarded, even if you're not the roll "in need" at the time.

"In need" bonuses tend to just give you a bit of extra gil and maybe some tokens to buy materia. You get the tomestones regardless.

Queuing as not in need just means a slightly longer wait – and even then you might get lucky if you get called on for some obscure duty that not everyone has unlocked. A good reason to do all the side content and unlock the optional dungeons.
