It's not stealing, it is a system feature.
This is what happens when you don't Maintain your House.
You won't miss the House, as you seem to have forgot you had one to begin with.
I was able to get the exact Plot that I wanted after watching it sit unused for over one year-thanks to Auto Demolition, I look forward to the previous owner visiting to see how good it looks now that I own it and use it on a daily basis.
Auto Demolition is my favorite feature.
I don't know how people keep getting their house demolition while you just enter inside your house. I have both houses with timer and after I got email of demolition notice, I logged on and it's gone after I entered it...
Those mumbo jumbo like use your NPC or stuff like that are just fearmongering and I never believed it.

There is a bug where sometimes autodemo doesn't reset just from entry. Its a bug, its not supposed to happen, but it does occasionally. Interacting with an NPC or the bell resets it if you get that bug.I don't know how people keep getting their house demolition while you just enter inside your house. Such a bug was never confirmed.
As far as we know is just fearmongering and people who lost their houses trying to cope with the fact they f* up.
Developers don't tend to confirm bugs unless they can replicate the issue on their internal testing servers. Depending on the circumstances, it can take a considerable number of player reports for them to narrow down the possible cause before they can attempt to replicate it. Look at how long it took them to acknowledge that server connectivity issue was a problem with their servers instead of an ISP issue as they had been claiming for a couple of years.
The problem in this case is that players generally aren't even going to realize something has gone wrong until some days after the fact, making it that much more difficult for developers to gather the relevant data they would need.
SE is not unaware of the possible bug. The wording on one of the warning emails even tells owners to enter the house then check the Estate timer to make certain that the auto-demolition no longer shows as pending. If they were convinced there is no bug and that entering was sufficient, there would be no need to tell players to check the Estate timer.
The point here is not to promote fearmongering. As I said above, the majority of players have nothing to fear because they're entering their house on a regular basis. Most of them are probably doing what we know will force reset of the demolition timer just out of habit - interacting with the Summoning Bell or a NPC vendor.
The point is to promote caution among those who aren't entering their houses on a regular basis and don't wish to lose the house. If you're only entering once every 30-45 days, make certain that the pending demolition has been canceled either through getting the chat message when entering or through the Estate timers. Those like Stormpeaks and Knot_D who are long time house owners and rarely use their houses are already in the habit of checking for it. Others need to start forming that habit.
On the rare chance it doesn't reset, then interact with something in the house. That should force the reset.

The myth of there is a bug.
Both English and Japanese tech forum never has this issue reported and acknowledged.
Also, if you are entering your house daily, how is it matter?
The so called "bug" has never been proven true and it's just people spreading this with the source "trust me bro", I have cancelled so many auto demo's and never had a single issue with it.I don't know how people keep getting their house demolition while you just enter inside your house.
