and technically, you CAN farm multiple maps a day. Twice to be exact.

Are you talking about gathering maps from gathering nodes, or running map hunts?

the first has the 1 map every 18 hours limit. And I'm pretty sure it's always been like this.
the second, has no limit. Unless there's a limit like 100 dungeon runs max a day no one ever found.

Nope, it's always been 18 hour CD for gathering maps. You could always possess multiple (1 of each type in inventory + saddlebag + each retainer, one map deciphered, and 20 in your moogle mail)

Ophiotauroskin is the most recent map type, and the 18 hour cooldown has been around at least as long as I've been doing maps, which is since around 2019.

You could always buy more than one map at a time and dispense them among your various inventories.


I do think there should be a little leeway though. Maybe only the most recent (two) type(s) of map should be on one 18 hour cooldown, with all other maps pooled into another separate 18 hour cooldown. That way you can't flood the market with the most recent map(s), but can still farm them routinely, while still being able to grab and older map in the meantime for something to do in the downtime.
