Are there any plans to fix the 'Haurchefant' localization?

I would genuinely prefer all the jokes to be exactly how they appear in the JP version, even if much of them wouldn't land. For those who don't get the puns or references that Koji Fox likes to vomit into the game, they're just names and flavor text. That says more about the prospect of relying on references as humor, if anything, but my point still largely stands.

But as for their localization approach? Most of it is largely based on making sure that no two regions get different experiences. Swapping out JP jokes and references for EN-centric ones is forgivable, but doing more than what is justified, and straying too far from the original intentions by the writers, worldbuilders, etc) like what the Haurchefant fiasco was isn't 'localization'. It's censorship, plain and simple.

The character should be the same across the board so it makes sense story wise. When he is localized the way he was it seems a bit off. Also if we try to talk to people who have the correct haurchefant they will be confused as thats not how he acted or spoke for them. Do seriously think that is okay?

You seem to think the issue most people have is that he was horny (and maybe that is an issue for some), but the issue is actually just that he was creepy about it lol.

The flirtation or suggestion of sex isn't what's being objected to by the players here. I can agree that the localization is arguably overly puritanical in the way it approached the issue before the apology -- but again, I don't miss the skeeziness. And I think you underestimate the impact that would have had on his reception in the west. As I and others have said, it would've seriously undermined the culmination of his arc for some of us.

And it wouldn’t bug most people so the few it does can just click past it. Why should we get a watered down character because people are sensitive over pixels and polygons.

I really don't see what there is to be so uncomfortable over. Yeah he's a 'creep' but it's a character in a video game and his original inception actually serves a valid purpose. His interactions are genuinely funny and the fact that people would rather see that revised because it would be inconvenient to 'toughen up' in favor of compromising the artistic and literary integrity of the product, thereby contributing to a culture of accommodating insecurity disguised as socio-cultural apologetics.

I genuinely think that the majority of players wouldn't feel so bothered by it, or they would overlook it along with all the other 'problematic' aspects of a Japanese product, and for those who are made uncomfortable by it, what's the harm? I think challenging their insecurities in the context of fiction is a good thing. It's how I learned to treat art as art and not as something that has to reflect real-life values. Fantasy is harmless.

Neither do I, but the difference between us is that I don't claim to know and I choose to err on the side of being considerate to those who would be reminded of horrible events in their real lives.
