i am Begging for dedicated crafting material storage

especially one that you can draw from while crafting without having to enter and back out of retainers 20 times as you figure out what you need, please. the materials take up so much space in the retainers, even with a purchase of an extra retainer that my friend made, there is so much between all the expansions. i am not hoarding Everything, but trying to craft my own gear and accessories as i level as well as keep things for glamours and possibly furniture or other crafts, there is just so much. i don't know what to DO running out of space and holding onto things and gathering things is so frustrating because of the limited retainer space (i am not buying extra retainers and have only the base two, sorry). crafting and gathering would be so much less stressful if we had a dedicated storage space for materials! is it please possible?

The real question is, why are you hoarding all this material instead of farming when you need it or completing the crafts you intend to do?

I know I got full retainers because of the latter for log and because I am lazy, but I am not exactly a role model for this.

The answer given for this discussion is that we will NEVER have single purpose storage.
That's why we don't have a bait box.
That's why we will never have crafting storage.

material (for overmelding esp) and dyes take up a lot of space too
That's why you shouldn't hoard things. You're assigning inventory space to things that you don't currently need while there is no room to store the things you do currently need.

Unless you're crafting specific things on a regular basis to sell on the MB for profit, don't store materials for future use unless they're rare and expensive (by which I mean things like Calf Leather and Mist Silk levels of rare and expensive).

Buy the materials when you need them. Most are pretty cheap on the MB or a vendor so you can get them on demand. If prices are higher than you like, that's when you want to gather them yourself. Remember that your time is also worth something - no point spending 15 minutes gathering materials you can buy for 10k when you could have spent that 15 minutes doing things that would have earned you 100k.

Dyes - only ones worth keeping on hand are Pure White and Jet Black because of the rarity. The rest are either cheap or quick to obtain with a little effort. If you mostly/always use the same dye on specific items, make sure you've dyed the item before you put it into your glamour dresser (or take it out, dye it, then put it back in). That way you don't need to keep dozens of dyes for each time you reapply the glamour.

Materia - DoM/DoW materia is simple. Unless you're actively doing current end game EX/Savage/Ultimate or need it for current stage of relic weapon progression, get rid of it. You don't need it and it's totally useless when you are ilvl synced in content. DoH/DoL is similar - it's mainly useful if you're doing current Master/Expert recipes. It can helpful while leveling if you are undergeared for the level of the recipes you're doing or items you're gathering. In both cases, most materia is cheap enough that you might as well buy what you need when you need it instead of storing it against a future use that never happens. Keep it if it's selling for 5-10k each (or more). Get rid of it when it's selling for 200-300.

Players have a bad tendency to hang onto things because maybe they'll use them later but then run out of room for the things they need now. Don't fall into that trap. Don't forget to also clear your inventory of all the random potions, food items, magicked prisms, etc. that we get as quest rewards thinking that we might remember to use them one day (and usually don't).

Doubling the inventory is urgently needed in Final Fantasy 14! This allows you to keep materials for multiple recipes that are running particularly often. Relief would also bring automatic taking of materials from inventory of assistants when executing recipes. Everything else leads to awkward moving of materials between inventory, assistant and chocobo bag. Likewise circumstances caused by the sale and repurchase of materials. We play Final Fantasy and no accounting in managing insufficient disk space.
I always clear out materials before every major expansion. Help from the program would be helpful here. It requires expert knowledge of the purpose for which objects exist. A lot of stuff comes from older content where few care anymore about the rewards that come with it. It takes some experience to assess which things are valuable and should not be deleted or sold. Newcomers in particular cannot assess this and keep everything possible as a precaution.

It takes a 5 second search of the market board to assess which things are valuable. Newcomers in particular should learn this simple fact so they can avoid clogging up their inventory with easy to replace and cheap items. As a long time player i have an idea which types of materials are annoying to re-attain. But when i have even a shadow of doubt i do a price check. Annoying to get myself but cheap to buy = just buy dont hoard.

I have an idea for something like this.

There are zones with their own dedicated inventory. Eureka and Bozja both have their own storage for skills and consumables. Island Sanctuary has it's own inventory as well.

So if we can't have a storage for materials under normal conditions - can't we have some sort of workshop instead? A special zone with it's own inventory which you can only access from inside that workshop, where you can store materials and can craft? Of course directly from that special inventory, so no need to transfer stuff back and forth all the time.

It’s a good thing not to answer your enemies. I scarcely ever do. Perhaps Emily is more like me than I am like myself. Perhaps she would rather not answer her friends, even. She keeps it all in her heart.

The problem isn't them not wanting to not create space or add pages, the problem is that every item slot is essentially an element in a table within a database for each character. Whether this space is your inventory, saddlebag, armoury chest, bozja chest, eureka logos, etc. it is dedicated space for your character and your character only that needs to stay allocated in the case of you wanting to access it. It is also why they really don't want to make raid tokens for example as dedicated currency in the currency tab rather than being an item.

To save computing power, they essentially limited where you can open what at a time so it isn't loaded when not in need.

Simply put - all of this is space somewhere on a harddrive in a server that requires space on one end, and something that needs to be accessed with code somewhere else. This costs money or risks unstable infrastructure.
