To be fair, the Coerthas section is also setup for the later Shiva arc and lays the groundwork for Heavensward. The alternative would be an even bigger info dump when we get to actually enter Ishgard.

Oh sure, but when people's main complaint about the Titan section or even the wrong corrupted crystal section, which I'm glad they cut down, boils down to we shouldn't have to do X cause people should know about Y the same thing could be applied to various other parts of the story. Yet there we are getting our chain yanked around being made to do other people's jobs more likely than not cause they either can't be bothered, have a tree stuck up their arse about any non Ishgardians (i.e Jannequinard's uncle) or are so whipped by the church that they would never question an inquisitor's words or actions. Or to think that the Heretics would manage to pull off said stunt.

I recently made an alt, and I gotta say going through ARR again is bit frustrating, but as a 10yr veteran, I can understand that at the time, SE didn't foresee that they would need to cut down so much story content on year 1. We were all mostly coming from 1.0 and FFXI and were already used to fetch quest fests and forever quest chains that just wont get to the point. Times have changed now and at least they are beginning to acknowledge this now.
