Now the venture I really hate is the single water crystal. For the same venture cost I could send you out for at least 50 and you bring me one?! lol

This happens when the retainer rolled an unique item that you already have in your inventory, you can't have two of that item, so the game replaces it with a crystal because you can carry that.
