What do you do with your house?

I run a store/forge out of it. You can come up to the front and buy weapons and tools from a retainer vendor. And inside there are mannequins that you can buy armor, accessories, and clothing from. Sadly I haven't restocked recently due to...my life mildly exploding. But I will be trying to restock it soon.

I decorate, redecorate, and decorate some more. Update for holidays/seasonal too-everything I can, appearance wise. If I'm studying or working, I idle in front of a study/work area. If I'm cooking, I idle in the kitchen. Little slightly immersive things like that, mainly so friends know why I'm afk without having to ask. My friends also visit a lot too, which is comfy. I craft and sell things, and practice with the hitting dummy outside too, when I learn a new job. I also use the little NPCs and of course the hair dresser and things too, since the hair dresser animation/text is shorter than it is when you go get it done in an Inn.

If I boot up FFXIV, I AFK in my house in between queues. I have a Namazu repairman inside so I only go to town if I need to transmog/glamour a new piece of gear or I am capped on Wolf Marks or Tomestones. I have not redecorated.

If I had one...Id probly AFK in it when Im not running content/taking a break, or waiting for a Queue to Pop.
Probly take some fun screenshots and use them as references for Art Commissions in the future.

What do I do with my house? Absolutely almost nothing these days. I got it years ago before this whole lottery mess. It kind of fell into my lap thanks to my game wife Aria, I bought the plot off her so she could afford a medium. At the start, I DID do the whole decorating thing. Later though it ended up getting relocated next to our FC and I was too lazy to redo it, so I just let my game wife redecorate the inside how she wanted to with a few alterations by me.

So now it sits, mostly unused except for crafting once in a while since it sits right next to both a market board and the summoning bells. I would have dumped it long ago if it was not right next to the FC house.

But with the new Loporrit dance floor, I kind of made my own little dance club downstairs and loaded the player with club music. Well, gotta get SOME use out of the thing. LOL

I'm curious to know what y'all who have managed to obtain a house (personal vs FC) do with it once you have it.

I know housing is a real hot button issue, but putting the difficulty in getting one aside, once you have one what do you do with it?

I can see where it would take a bit of time to get it setup just the way you want it with décor and such, but once you do that, then what?

I'm genuinely curious about this. I got caught up in the I guess FOMO and bid on a house or three but no go, but got to thinking about what I would actually *do* with the house once I got one.

Do y'all constantly redecorate, or is it more of a 'woohoo I got a house!' moment that you can check off the list and move on to other things?

I spend the vast majority of my time at our FC house where I can interact with the members, tell jokes, etc.. If I was hanging out at a private house it would be me, myself and I would miss that interaction with my FC mates.

I visit it daily to garden, check retainers, sit and craft, occasionally AFK if I'm temporarily getting involved in a discussion outside of game.

I'll redecorate whenever I get in the mood, usually 3-4 times a year. It's nice to have as a creative outlet and to give our characters a place unique to them.

If you don't see yourself using it much if at all, it's not worth getting a house. That's gil you could put to other uses (decorating is almost always more expensive than the plot purchase).

I've built an entire narrative story around my (haunted) house and the residents who used to live there. It's told via the front placard, the names and descriptions of the FC rooms, and the guestbook entries within the main home and the FC rooms. Once I spent about 2 weeks and ~30 million gil decorating, I used it as a place to just chill between roulettes that isn't a crowded, laggy, busy city with bots hiding underneath the aetheryte to screw up the draw distance.

I spent years trying to get a house. I sure as shit wasn't about to be that guy with the empty front yard and the locked, empty interior.

"Managed"? My house was sitting there vacant lot for weeks, so I waited a little while longer then picked it up with no competitors. There are STILL medium and small plots available in the Goblet on Kujata - at least EIGHT on my ward alone , they have also been vacant for weeks.."we cant get a house' - yes you can, you're just being too choosy.

I own a personal small and have an FC medium on Jenova, so this isn't coming from a place of salt or anything (as a disclaimer). However, this is not the case on most servers. There aren't any vacant personals on jenova for instance. When one does open up, it has hundreds of bids on it easily.
