Once again i say gear is important but how important it is depends on the person's play style. What is the point of coming in a thread asking about an endgame monk's gear. Just to give your opinion on how worthless you think gear is because you don't do endgame? You don't want to go after gear that's fine go have fun. But its pointless to come into this thread and give your opinion to someone who clearly wants to to endgame.
Who are we to judge others, without judging ourselves.....

/sigh
This thread isn't about play styles and never was. It's about someone asking how to gear MNK for endgame.
The person clearly wants to do endgame. So is looking for advice on gear. You clearly do not so have no advice on gear. So why did you come in at all?
It was completely pointless for you to come in here and 1st say gear was worthless. Because you can do the same damage as someone with the best gear on. (which you can't) Then say you're not going after gear Because its being replaced. If you want to have that play style that's fine have fun. But Seriously Why did you come in a thread that is asking for gear for a play style completely different from yours?

What about end game gear set with a theme!? This would be more fun to gear up and set up than just pure best in slot...
Let's see who can come up with attractive, cohesive, and effective gear sets!
I'll start!!!
Set based on harness and subligar:
Head: Electrum monocle with 2x Intelligence materia (30int minimum)
Chest: Raptorskin Harness +1 with 2x Savage Might materia (80 crit att power minimum)
Belt: Peisteskin Hunting Belt with Sanguine might or Touch of serenity materia
Legs: Raptorskin Subligar +1 with 2x Ironman's will or Swordsman's cry materia (10 str minimum)
Hands: Temple Gloves or Felt Bracers +1 with multiple strength materia (30 str minimum)
Feet: Temple Boots
Earring: Explorer's Earring
Neck: Electrum Gorget +1
Wrists: Rubellite Bracelets +1
Fingers: 2x Rubellite Rings +1
Weapon: any primal weapons will do...
Summary: perhaps the most "revealing" and "smexy" set of monk gear. Very high intelligence and if you get even slightly lucky with the hat slot you're going to cap it. A little bit lower on strength and will need a triple meld on the gloves in order to cap strength. The good thing is, a lot of this gear (apart from the multiple melds) are rather affordable. Even with double melds only, there should be little problem throwing out 100+ dps in Miser Mistress, if not higher. Electrum monocle was chosen as the hat slot cause the other hats don't tend to mix well with the harness/subligar setupwell, you can hide the hat if you have another multiple int hat already... Also Temple gloves look much better with this set than the other gloves in this game mainly because it matches so well with the boots, but you'll lose even more str...
So... let's see what other sets you guys can come up with!

a lot of those are drg or brd gear, pie is useless on mnk.
raptorskin gloves of slaying/felt trousers may be better for medling since they already have some str/atk on them.
as for body, flame sergeant tabard is really good right now, with +10 str, and 60 hp, who could go wrong.

I think when reading my post, you might've missed this part:a lot of those are drg or brd gear, pie is useless on mnk.

It means to think of a thematic look on the resultant gear, bring pieces of gear together and make it look good, without sacrificing functionality in end game contents. The use of Raptorskin Glove of slaying is a good choice but I find that it clashes a little with the heavy black colors of the harness/subligar. Using the felt trousers completely breaks the harness/subligar theme.end game gear set with a theme
In essence, I think you're choosing the BiS options attainable. Nothing wrong with that though...
But maybe you can come up with a set of your own with a themed look?

The statement gear won't matter coming into 2.0 is false. Do you think instantly everything is just going to be outdated and someone can just craft up something superior as soon as they log in? The gear we get now including the relics will be a big advantage coming into 2.0 with the new raids and dungeons.

I too am a Flame and this is my current setup:
Flame Lt. H2H (like not having to use sanction to get +att)
Flame Tabard
Darklight Bracers (+acc and +att is worth the -100 health)
AF legs
Darklight Caligae (AF feet will suffice)
Rubelitte ring +1
Zircon ring +1
Flame sgt. bracelets (+7 INT if your wearing tabard and flame h2h)
Explorer's Earrings
Electrum Gorget +1
Veteran's Field Belt (When I was using Ifrit's claws I used Flame Sgt. Sash to get bonus on bracelets)
When I have problems with acc like in the 4 man Faction Leves for relic weapons. I wear Flame Sash, Electrum Ring in place of Zircon and Flame skirt (don't have the trousers yet so if you have those use em). this will boost my Acc high enough to fix this. I notice most ppl don't use AF legs but they're the best MNK leg piece you can get. +10 str and reduce ST recast. ST is a great for a bit of damage an a small TP boost. With this setup, I out DPS most of my LS except for the BLMs lol ^^

I think you should drop DL bracers for Str gloves, i only use bracers if im fighting mobs that need acc like garuda, otherwise str gloves would be better choice.

Darklight Bracers are pretty much garbage.

Yeah those DL bracers are far from best choice for a monk. I keep mine only in case I'm on brd and am having acc issues but in honesty I've never needed them. Gloves melded with str are better by far. The AF legs are nowhere near the best monk leg piece you can get. Storm sergeants hose give you the same str boost but with added acc and the best choice is felt trousers double melded with swordsmans cry. I get +23 str from mine and I'd take that any day of the week over the shortened ST recast.
