Unique Gear for Retainers?

So I gathered up a whole bunch of purple scripts to get some DoL gear for my retainers... one being a BTN, the other a MIN. Got one outfitted with the Perfectionist 590 gear. Got a second set for the other BUT it says I can't use them because they are unique. EXCEPT they are for 2 different characters. Two of my FC mates (both Mentors) say this shouldn't be... is this a known bug? I mean why was I not warned when I purchased the gear (I have seen warnings before getting "unique" gear, but not this time)?

I have two retainers in the Landsaint's gear, which is also Unique. You can't have both sets in your own inventory at the same time. Here's what I did, keeping in mind I bought the sets before my retainers could actually equip them:

• Bought the first set. Put it in one retainer's inventory.
• Bought the second set. Put it in the second retainer's inventory.
• Moved the first set from the first retainer into my own inventory. Equipped it to the first retainer.
• Moved the second set from the second retainer into my own inventory. Equipped it to the second retainer.

Nope, Landsaint is not unique, at least the accessories aren't. I have the same Landsaint accessories on both DoL retainers.

The left-side gear is unique, though. (I should have been more precise that that's what I meant by "set".)

Hmmm, one was already wearing the gear I wanted (Perfectionists), I bought a second set, had it in my inventory and could not equip it to my second retainer. Which seems opposite from what you detailed, right?

If you can't equip unique gear to a retainer, one of the following is true:

• The retainer does not meet the requirements for the gear.
• The retainer is holding another copy of the gear in their inventory.

Another likely cause is that they are currently wearing something unique and you have a copy of it in your inventory, so the game refuses to equip the new gear to the retainer because you would end up holding two copies.

Oh that's a great point. Yes, this too.

• Equipping the new item to the retainer would cause them to unequip a Unique item of which you are already carrying a copy.

Both my BTN & MIN retainers are 90. Doing a search shows I have 2 copies of the 5 left side gear in question... one being equipped to my one retainer, the second being in my inventory. I think Iscah may have a point, although off the top of my head, I think the gear I am taking off is the only piece anywhere in my orbit... but I'll have to make sure next time I log in.

Bingo, give Iscah a medal... turned out I had a copy of the gear my retainer was wearing in my armory chest... dumped it in my glamor dresser and NOW I can equip my retainer with the better gear. WOULD be nice if we could apply a glamor plate to a retainer...
