    Unable to Complete Version Check

    After downloading the files for patch 6.38, I logged in and hit Play to launch the game. My screen went black as the game was starting up. This has happened a couple times in the past, so I did what I’ve done before. Did a manual shutdown of my laptop and then turned it back on.

    Attempted to launch again, and the launcher had a blue screen, saying I needed to set up a Square Enix account and verify registration. I clicked next, picked the option for “I already have a Square Enix account” and entered my username and password. Then it went to the normal launcher screen. I entered my username and password again, and this time I got an error box that says: “Unable to complete version check [30410][30607][20457][404]”

    Looked on the internet for suggestions, and I verified that integrity of game files on Steam. Not sure what else to try. The error keeps coming up any time I try to login.

    Did you try launching the game directly from Steam?

    I did. The error box is the same.

    The Restore option in the launcher fixed whatever it was, in case anyone else runs into the same problem. I had to restore my character config settings after, so luckily I thought to back them up on Sunday night!
