Cause it's first a story-based game, and secondly an MMO.
It's a Final Fantasy game after all.

And yet its as entertaining as watching paint dry. Reason why there is even a boost in the first place.
Meanwhile games like FFX are one of the most loved game of the franchise because of the story because it's absolutely amazing.
I think a lot of people would disagree with you that the story is "as entertaining as watching paint dry". I'd argue it's on par or exceeding most AAA games.
Can you elaborate on how stating that this game is story-based, is "copium"? That word become so cringe.

id say more than a "lot"..then again the people here are jaded, cynical , seem not to miss an opportunity to bash the game and the devs any chance they get. Given people like Aveyond, thats a fair assessment.I think a lot of people would disagree with you that the story is "as entertaining as watching paint dry". I'd argue it's on par or exceeding most AAA games.
God forbid people enjoy what they dont...the horror.....
It isnt, the word actually has no real meaning, as it is whats called a neologism. Can you elaborate on how stating that this game is story-based, is "copium"? That word become so cringe.
Hopium combines 'hope' and 'opium.' It is usually used to make fun of someone being irrationally optimistic. In this context anyone who doesnt hate the game and the content is "on copium" along with the usual "dead game" "failing game" "dying game" memes. Stormpeaks obsession with sub numbers is meant to bolster / justify / validate their argument / stance that the game "is losing players massively as the devs are incompetent"...etc etc..Its also funny from my POV as I have seen players from the WOW forums trashing FF 14 using the same STEAM arguments / supposed statistics.Copium is a fictional drug that helps someone in coping with bad news or results. A combination of the words coping and opium. In Twitch Chat it is a popular emote used when a streamer or team is facing adversity.
Said "statistics" are a wild guess at best, for reasons otherwise stated.
FF 14 is in fact a story driven JRPG first, an MMO second..which has been the basis for the devs own comments on the games genre.
"If you enjoy this dead game which is boring you are on copium,"..thats the general sentiment. Along with that is the 'white knight" meme, which is an epithet thrown at people who see the positives in a game or aspect...its a nice convenient way to dismiss anyone who doesnt meet their irrational dislike of the game for the simple reason it doesnt meet their tastes or requirements.
Cant comment on FF 11 btw, never played it , never intend to.
These forums arent a place to get any kind of meaningful or actual valid feedback.
Sad, but true nonetheless

Actually they are not a guess, they are factual, sorry to break your bubble sunshine, you can keep coping though, you are making yourself look like a fool, not me.Said "statistics" are a wild guess at best, for reasons otherwise stated.
Oh and making a wall of text every single response and putting it in bigger letters and in bold doesnt make your point any more valid, I promise you

It also doesn't make their point any less valid, I promise you.Actually they are not a guess, they are factual, sorry to break your bubble sunshine, you can keep coping though, you are making yourself look like a fool, not me.

As for your quote. I don't know who you're responding to, or when. I wasn't able to find "Said "statistics" ..." in any of the posts for the last day of posts.
Were you writing about battle stats you can find on that one web site? The ones that players who use the third-party tool that generates them are extremely aware should not be used to harrass players?
Were you writing about Steam statistics? You know, the ones that indicate a peak of 27k players for the game on any given day. Across the world. Those statistics? Were you writing about the Steam statistics for World of Warcraft, which are non-existent? Come to think of it, if there are no Steam statistics for WoW, does that mean nobody plays it? Context is everything.
I wouldn't want to shut down valid criticism and this platform to become an echo-chamber, but there is a lot of jaded negativity going around, especially during the time between major patches.
As for FF11, it was more of an MMO first, storyline second at least I felt that back then. It was more focus on community cause you couldn't really play that game solo at all. 11 has some (w/ risk of rose tinted glasses) great storylines, some memorable for me has always been Chains of Promatia, Treasure of Aht Urghan and Wings of the Godess in my book.
In all fairness, you ought to know a small minority of people playing this game is playing it through steam. Most people plays with regular PC version from Square Enix, and of course console, so basing statistics from Steam, is at best misguided and at worst dishonest and not argued in good faith.Actually they are not a guess, they are factual, sorry to break your bubble sunshine, you can keep coping though, you are making yourself look like a fool, not me.
Stating wild guess is maybe not the best way to put it but it's not the whole truth.
