That is simply not true. LOTRO players also mainly play for the story, and generally consider the journey to levelcap to be more important than play at levelcap. TSW/SWL are also mainly about story.
Don't assume that what's true for WoW is true for any other MMO.
14 has a decent story by mmo standards, no one cared about wows story because they kept mucking it up, half the reason people disliked BFA was the fact the story was such a mess. people do care, esp when the game doesnt treat it as an after thoughtLiterally noone cares about story in mmos except FF14 players. WoW story was never good, but nobody ever cared cause who the fuck plays a MMO for the story except, once again, FF14 players. WoW story was always roughly a "why are we doing this?" justifications for raids and stuff
"mucking it up"
someone forgot about burning crusade. WoW never had a great story, and noone cared until FF14 got big and noone everyone nitpicks apart every MMO story as if 90% of people cared for that lmao, they dont.

WOTLK, Pandaria, Legion would like a word with you.WoW never had a great story
SWTOR players cares about story, coz its has better story with cool choicesLiterally noone cares about story in mmos except FF14 players. WoW story was never good, but nobody ever cared cause who the fuck plays a MMO for the story except, once again, FF14 players. Actually false some wow players care and many buy and read the books. Same with diablo and starcraft for some people. I always care for story in gameLiterally noone cares about story in mmos except FF14 players. I know some will argue that corner case of having multiple characters due to raid lockouts. And that is their business. For the other 98% of the population, alts make no sense. You can either level up another toon entirely, running MSQ for days and days... and opening up side content, etc etc. Or... just click a button and change jobs.

Alts make a lot of sense to me. I have multiple characters with their own appearance and name, own set of glamour plates and personalised glamour collection that suits them.I know some will argue that corner case of having multiple characters due to raid lockouts. It might not be what you play the game for, but enjoying multiple character designs is a big part of it for me, and this way I can switch on a whim and never have to spend money on Fantasias.

As long as a player like you is fine with the time (or money) investment, more power to you.Alts make a lot of sense to me. I have multiple characters with their own appearance and name, own set of glamour plates and personalised glamour collection that suits them.
