Another plugin feature being added to the game official (Job Icons)

You'd think players would rejoice, especially those who used the mods. Alas, no. Devs apparently can't get do right here either.

I seem to remember Yoshi specifically stating that they were looking into adding some of the mods players were using into the game that made sense in order to improve gameplay. Lo and behold they do it, and now they catch flack for banning players who were supposedly using those same mods.

I remember an episode of South Park where the kids gang up on Cartman and nab all of his PC equipment and destroy it right in front him in a quasi-blanket party fashion. That is exactly what I feel like doing to all these modders.

I think my only complaint on SE's side was punishing that one JP player for using the mod that added timers to buffs/debuffs on the party frames and then adding the feature into the game. That could have been handled better. Otherwise I only see it as a positive to add QoL features.

Morally, The only time Morally exists, is when it's advantage over ease of use. and everyone knows that line is always merged/blurry.
So case by case is always a thing, thus the Grey rules.

Personally I'm glad these changes are coming, even if slowly.
Should be pushing people to suggest the ever living dead out of the devs with QoL topics. Rather than deciding to be "Martyrs" in a pit that was a hill.

[The only exceptions are those who are beyond normal Accessibility issues that the devs couldn't normally implement without effort/investment.

I honestly think job icons in chat is the lamest plug they couldve possibly shoved into 14.
Who is this for? What is the point? Are people so busy reading chat they cant glance up at their party list? If thats the case they cant be playing well to begin with.
Theres two races whove been here for 4 years who cant use 98% of a gearslot Yoship, how bout you add that into the game.

I see it mostly for ease of use in content, as its for parties/alliances, as well as chat logs.<which tbh, while not the intention, if the role is logged, then may also make many other instances easier in relating to happenings in content/reports>
also, some people have their character settings adjusted when in combat, so knowing other Alliances/players role/job at a glance without hovering over their raid frame<and potentially be the person you aren't looking for>

It has its uses, but it's not game changing.

The whole, little things that make the experience better, whilst the simultaneously work on <creating/attempting> the meaty QoL.

Well I imagine it can also be helpful for alliance raids or Frontlines when you're not aware of who each and every person is. I personally look forward to it.

This is what I thought aswell. I remember there was a post floating around within hours of the billboard saga exploding all over ffxiv social media that claimed one of the FC members had just been banned but that post was revealed as false. Other than that I have heard nothing about anyone from the FC getting suspended.

Technically, SE can ban someone from playing the game for just about any reason that they feel like if one reads the entire TOS. It just comes down to interpreting what someone is doing as bad for other people playing the game.

1) Are you actively promoting the usage of a 3rd party tool?

2) Are you actively causing harm to others in some obvious way while playing the game using a third party tool?

Those are the two conditions that have resulted in a banning or suspension of an account.

Can we have it so that instead of seeing names above characters, we can only see their job icon?
I know it sounds stupid but hear me out, when Im in an alliance, on console, if the other alliance dies, until I scroll through each character to find out which ones hugging the floor are healers/rezmages Im dead too

You're not alone. And if they were adapting all the features from the plugin(s) in question, you'd be getting that. It's obviously not a necessity by any stretch, but definitely makes it easier to understand what's going on at a glance. As someone with ADHD, I struggle as it is to absorb that kind of information without distracting myself from, like... not dying myself lol.
