the problem really isn't that people quit the stuff. theres always people to do the content. the problem is people just demolish it so they done and dont have to touch it againVariant/Criterion was dead when people realised how awful the rewards were vs the time it took. Part of the problem IMHO was that I could clear a regular route faster solo as healer with spirit dart than I could a random group. Same goes for grinding chests for minions. Meanwhile Criterion just wasn't worth the time it took which was a shame, it was really quite fun content.
Isle seems to have faired better, I still see people doing it, however the issue there is that it's rather finite content, surprisingly so for a discount farm sim. Adding new content that won't get blown through in a few sittings is kind of tricky.
It's quite simple to verify. Go stand at the item exchange NPC for the Variant dungeon and see how many people interact with it. It's easy enough to do the same for the Isle Sanctuary travel NPC as well as the Savage coffer exchange NPC. Compare that to the number of PFs you'll see for Criterion vs Savage. It's not great sadly.
The player retention vs something like Bojza has been awful.
Because we're not women - we're videogame characters.
Get with it.
