If you play PLD, you should know its like a game of DDR on your keyboard.
Why this again?

I vote NO for gear swapping in any way, shape, or form during combat. Even for caster classes, players should not be able to change equipment during combat regardless of being in active/passive modes. Changing equipment during a fight makes no sense at all and is one of the things i hated most about XI.
I find it hilarious. The same people who denounced jumping as an immersion breaker praise Gearswap, though that makes even less sense than jumping.
Anyways, Gearswapping is a pile of shit and I'm glad the devs discourage it. It didn't allow people to make choices (As a BRD do I want my buffs/enfeebs to stick? Or do I want my songs to be enhanced? Or do I want to be a subpar DD?), because you could just switch to whatever piece of gear was best to min/max the fuck out of everything. They should make it so that when you are engaged in battle, you cannot swap gear at all. The exception only being arrows/throwing projectiles.
You only heard horror stories from lazy people lol. Btw, if SE adds a lot of situational gear to XIV, there's going to eventually be a need for it, which they also stated they had no current plans to introduce it, but they aren't against the idea if it's needed.
Funny thing is, the current setup in XIV actually screams for Gear Swapping in certain situations because you can't stack all preferred stats with just 1 set of armor, for example for nuking you want less resistance as well as more damage, it's usually either/or, not both unless you're insanely lucky on melds.

I'm all in favor of gear swamp. Most of the people that are against it said that is because not enough inventory space but they also carried gear for all 7 DoM/DoW, craft and gathering classes. Maybe if people specialize in one or two classes gear swamps would be viable without hurting so much the inventory space.
I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.
Situational =/= every other ability.
also, it's very clear that they have made moves against gearswapping. Active/passive mode, hamlet defense in general, etc.
I absolutely DO NOT want to see gearswap in this game. It is a bunch of crap. This is not FFXI.
Exactly, situational, you didn't need to gear swap for every ability because there's always an innate cap. This is why people are against it because of misinformation.
The only time you'd ever gear swap for "every ability" is if you're trying to reduce the timer heavily, otherwise no need for it.
If they introduce a gear-swapping system in game (not 3rd party) and make it be painless and blinkless, I would be happy with it...
Lazy ppl had horror stories because of spellcast macros and in the end non-windower users were at a huge disadvantage, so as long as its in game and lazy-friendly it should be fair game right?
