    Gear Swaps?

    Is it beneficial to gear swap like it was in FFXI?

    I am thinking of making PLD my main. that being said i've always found it beneficial to have multiple sets of gear. but if gear swaps are possible and feasible it will change the order in which i try to optimize my stats and what gear i choose to meld. (IE: for damage sets i'll try to pick pieces i can use on a DD class as well as PLD. since i'd only be swapping into it right before i execute a high-damage combo. etc.)

    If gear swaps are feasible, does anyone know if friendly spells terminate when a gear swap occurs? IE it was common practice to have macros say

    /ma "Cure IV" Naomi

    Rather than

    /ma "Cure IV" <t>

    to prevent interruptions to cures because your tank is constantly gear swapping to optimize mitigation and enmity.

    I've got gear macros now. Can't gear swap in active mode, but most mages don't play in active mode.

    On my WHM, if I find its time to nuke, I often times get to cast several nukes, and its worth my time to put a +INT gear swap in all of them, because time to nuke once usually means time to nuke five or six times.

    If I have to switch to start heal-dumping, I hit my macro for my +MND gear.

    If I'm passing out buffs (usually only out of combat, to be honest) I have a gear swap macro for +VIT, too.

    Gear swaps are already here - they're just not usable by everyone.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    Ugh this is one thing I hope they NEVER introduce from XI. Never played XI but the horror stories I've heard about this... no. Keep it in XI.

    You only heard horror stories from lazy people lol. Btw, if SE adds a lot of situational gear to XIV, there's going to eventually be a need for it, which they also stated they had no current plans to introduce it, but they aren't against the idea if it's needed.

    Funny thing is, the current setup in XIV actually screams for Gear Swapping in certain situations because you can't stack all preferred stats with just 1 set of armor, for example for nuking you want less resistance as well as more damage, it's usually either/or, not both unless you're insanely lucky on melds.

    Situational =/= every other ability.

    also, it's very clear that they have made moves against gearswapping. Active/passive mode, hamlet defense in general, etc.
