We're likely going to kill him, at which point he'll basically have died a martyr. A martyr...Igeyohrm?

Golbez is definitely on the 13th's moon, so its possible he's trying to do that. Or just waiting for us to do it, at which point he'll take advantage.

I don't think he's Igeyorhm, though. Either we met the Igeyorhm who screwed up the 13th; or the ascians had raised another Igeyorhm shard up to her office, which you'd think they'd only do if the current one was dead. Though, I suppose its possible she was just given up for lost and/or assumed dead. It'd be easier to predict if we knew who the current ascians are. :/ Gaius owes us a list. lol

I managed to get it to this position so I think it's just the cycle. The Zodiark Hole rave lights are gone though, that's true.

Ok wild theory time. What if we get Unei and Doga in 6.4? Course they would need to have souls in order for this to work. Yet they both died over in the 13th. They even say something like even if our bodies die our souls will live on before we leave them to deal with Cloud of Darkness. Now I don't think that we will or how it would happen. I still don't get why there's ninjas in the WoD raid besides that they were common enemies in III's version. Lore wise there's no explanation.

Simple, Hingashi (not Doma) is based as entirely a copy paste of real life Edo period Japan. So any lore elements/aesthetic element/etc, they make for Hingashi, will not require too much creative time to create because they can just take inspiration or even straight out copy paste from Japan and since they obviously know their culture, there would be no issue doing it correctly too.
It's just easier for devs this way. Hingashi is boring in every way possible.

Just because they can pull from their own history and myths doesn't work for an in game reason why we would be going to be exploring a part of Hingashi. Everything but Kugane is forbidden to outsiders and it's not like we're friends with the guy in charge of Kugane let alone anyone further in land. Especially since the first Variant dungeon delt with stuff surrounding Sil'dih and Belah'dia. So, people speculated that we might touch on Gelmorra or some other hidden thing that delt with Limsa.

I'm sure others can think of places in Ala Mhigo or Ishgard that could use some love. Having the next being in Hingashi feels like being told to take the next right when you're on top of the intersection and in the wrong lane.

It's right there in the enemy name: "sacrificed ninja". Combined with the ninjas seen among the enemies in Syrcus Tower, it's not hard to conclude that this was an Allagan discipline.

(Edit: Or possibly imported from the Far East in Allagan times, or captives.)

Aside of getting over the previous assumption they would be focusing on each of the original three city-states, I don't see any particular reason to not go there either. This whole variant dungeon thing is framed as a sort of investigation agency thing, so evidently they have been petitioned by someone in Hingashi (assuming it is Hingashi and not Doma again) this time.

At this point, our "back yard" is all of Etheirys, and Hingashi is just as much a place that we have visited but not explored in depth.

That said, hopefully we are going there because there's a story worth telling and not just because they want to showcase their Japanese setting again.

According to one of the recent interviews the person we're to be exploring Mount Rokkon is to be a certain Hingashi Lord. Which should rule out Hien and Gosetsu as they're both Doman. I'm not sure how many would label Hancock as a Hingashi Lord. The only lord we know is the Soy Sauce heir. Who many don't see in a positive light. Then there's the bakufu of Kugane who I don't think we have ever seen. Not sure of the title of the guy who's in charge of the coliseum we got introduced to Gogo at. Or that they'd pull from Blue Mage for a familiar face.

I'd hope it would have story if we're to be collecting information like we did this last time.

I wonder if, eventually, Limsa will pull a Comodore Matthew Perry and open up Hingashi? Which, given Limsa/Merlwyb's recent direction via role quests and short stories, might not be too out of left field. I know that most Americans know virtually nothing about Perry's actions opening up Japan, but the Japanese do, so they'd like as not draw from it.

Also, I do personally think the actual city of Ala Mhigo could use a Doman Enclave/Ishgardian Restoration-esque questline that turns the currently inaccessible portion into a real zoned city state like the other cities of Eorzea.

Personally, I'm hoping we get put in contact with this lord through the sekisegumi. They're analogous to the shinsengumi, right? My understanding of the politics at the time is fuzzy, but I think they ultimately served a specific lord? I think they were the anti-foreigner faction, though, so... Might be awkward. lol But maybe the WoL will be the honorable foreigners that help change their minds and lead to Hingashi opening up or something. And the V/C dungeon can be a hint towards that story.

Big agree, it should have been Ala Mhigo all along, not Rhalgr's Reach, which should have been completely destroyed. We already have part of the city map from the dungeon and I LOVE IT.
