Masked Carnivale

I have tried to do the Masked Carnivale now 50 times but I cannot do it, cause I can't react fast enough. No matter which one i tried, I fail and it's getting frustrating. I have seen 1 Million You Tube Videos and due to Post Covid I am not able to finish that stupid Stuff to get the Blue Mage Spells. Is there any other way to get those Spells? Or should I give up Blue Mage for good? I can do Dungeons, Raids, Trials but those Carnival Stuff is just not possible.

I guess it depends on which ones you do and what you're going for. I think Wesk Alber had a Blue Mage Academy set of videos where he went through them all with "this is what you NEED to clear the fight" and "this is what you can use on top of that if you want the achievements", but I don't think you need achievements for any spells. I found his videos when I was trying to clear them and all the "guides" were from before the "brush with death" debuff and people just Moon Flute Final Sting-ed their way to victory.

I think the only really tricky one is needing Diamondback for one fight (maybe the Living Liquid one? I forget...) but you can ACTUALLY beat it without that, it's just hard. I did. I used Mighty Guard and cure like crazy (don't remember if I had Pom Cure or not, but I don't think I did), so lots of Lucid and White Wind. And the one that's super easy if you have the thing that sucks all enemies to your spot I didn't have that ability, so I think I did it with sticky tongue. That was tough because I had to be really quick, but I got it after a few tries.

I'm not sure I've got all the spells, but if you can clear the fights, you can get the spells, so getting the clears is the real trick.

The carnivale stuff is more a puzzle than straight combat. The only hard one is pepsiman and his brother, beyond that they mostly roll over when you have the trick. I’d probably recommend the blue academy videos because they’re pretty good and were updated for squished stats/more recent spells.

When West Alber lists all the spells for each act, my brain shuts off. I can't remember this list, so I don't know when to use what in battle.
And Blue Mage Academy is confusing, the guy speaks so slurred that I had to watch some videos 20x and afterwards still didn't understand what spells he was using.
My concentration and responsiveness have dropped from 100% to 60% thanks to Long Covid. I don't know how I can ever change that, after 13 months with these symptoms it doesn't feel good.

Well in the case if carnival there mostly puzzles but having the basic of spells help with most of them my basic kit to tackle most of them was this pom cure aether mimicry with healer stance bristle shock strike gobskin with healer stance hydro pull for instances that you need to move mobs or sneeze flying sardine diamondback eruption excuviation to esuna your debbufs eerie sound to dispel the bosses buffs and fire angon or sonic boom for quick cast while you gcds come back and glower for paralyzing if you can possibly get nightbloom or song of torment it will help but this kit will mostly get you thru like 80% of the carnival but other fight you have to get specific spells like j kick for azulmagia and later fights you will see why it becomes easier once you have like 50% of the spells but I recommend you get those I listed trust me it will be easy even if you fail alot but it will become easy the others slots feel free to experiment but once you get those spells blu gets fun and then you can try different ways to do the carnival but like I said like the other 20% you do need specific spells. There is a Blue Mage discord that has a lot of really good resources which will show you tips and tricks for each masked carnival stage and well as the optimal spell setups in multiple situations. It's been a while but im pretty sure every spell that you get from a mob in the masked carnival can be found somewhere else out in the world. You'll definitely want to finish masked carnival at some point for some of the powerful spells like BLM rez, but you can get most of the bis spells outside the masked carnival.

Only other piece of advice i can think of is that sometimes it's better to be in tank or healer mimicry for the extra survivability than it is to be in dps mimicry for more dps.

Have you got every spell outside the carnivale? There are higher level spells that make older carnivale stages much easier aswell as things like aetherial mimicry, oGCD primals spells and the final sting combo.

Other than that, there’s no catch all advice, you have to take each stage one at a time because they all have their own strategies, usually involving some kind of gimmick. If there’s any stages in particular you’re struggling with you might be better off asking for specific advice for those stages.

It can be very frustrating and demoralizing, agreed. My best advice, get every spell, and watch/read guides. You’ll have to change up your hotbar for every stage
