100 gear sets now?

One for each job already lands you on 31(19 combat+BLU+8 crafters+3 gatherers), plus extras for Ultimates, plus Bozja and Eureka sets, plus whatever else they may have, it can really add up.

Max is currently 45 tho. 14 more than number of jobs. I don't think I've ever run out. It's nice to have more it's just.... I didn't think this was high on the list of things that were needed lol.

Nine of those would've been the original classes (gladiator, marauder, arcanist, conjurer, thaumaturge, pugilist, lancer, archer, and rogue), which the game treats as separate jobs. So really, just five extra slots.

No one uses gearsets for base classes. We can ignore those.

It's called padding a list. Call me when they increase glamour plates. We don't even have enough for one of each class if you throw in DoH/L in there. lol

People use a ton of gear sets? I just have 1 for every job and 1 for an ultimate set from a couple years ago that's probably irrelevant nowm

I have just one for Crafter and hotswap the weapons (the rest of the gear is identical so...) and used to for Gatherers...not sure why I stopped doing that and made them each one, honestly...

...but yeah, I also have Bozja and Eureka sets for my mainly played role (Healer, but if I did other roles, I could see myself making a few more), and a lower level gear set with a different glamour for when I want to PvP in a different outfit or Job specific outfit (WHM robes, SCH robes) than I use for my level 90 gear (since I omni-Healer [and play a couple Tanks, SMN, and RDM], I try to pick a set with no Job-specific gear so it won't go stupid looking if I swap Jobs in a place I can't change my glam)

So yeah, there are reasons to have more than just number of Jobs/a few extras.

I think it's something like one per job plus a small number extra?

I can end up with a fair number of plates storing glamours or tracking gearsets that I'm collecting so I've got half of it in my inventory waiting for levelling roulette to throw me back into that dungeon.

This does seem like more than I'll ever need, though. I would have been fine with 50 or so as long as they were all unlocked from the start.

I must confess I read this wrong, I thought they were increasing the gear slots to 100, pity it's not the case.


I do use all 45 Gear Sets available so an increase to 100 is really handy but I also think it creates a new problem and that is there are not enough gear slots available in the Armoury Chest, I would expect an increased capacity now.

Glamour sets is probably more important than Gearsets at this point.
I've never even approached 45 Gearsets, but 45 Glamour sets would be very nice so that it lines up with Gearsets.

I was thinking the same thing. Evidently a lot of people were, because Yoshida commented on it in the live letter, saying something to the tune of (and I'm paraphrasing hard here, since Square won't hire an actual translator and I was going off of a volunteer's translations) "what, you want more plates? Didn't we just give you those?"
I don't know if he was joking or serious, since -- again -- the 2 billion dollar company couldn't just have someone there speaking the translation as he said them. But they at least acknowledged all the people in the chat saying the obvious part out loud, and they met that criticism with "b-but we just added 5, isn't that enough???" lol
