Outdoor Furnishings in Island Sanctuary

Furnishings must be placed near buildings.

A maximum of 90 slots can be unlocked through Island Sanctuary game play.

Special furnishings like striking dummies and gardens are not supported.

I don't think Island fishing will take over housing. Its a nice Idea of setting furniture on the island to remove the empty spots but housing is special -> for one thing you can afk without fear of being booted from your house unless the server feels like farting (sorry not sorry for that bad joke) With island sanctuary you have 10 min <- like yoshi-p said it won't replace housing no matter how much people keep saying. Its more like Adding more decorations to it along side minions and venues you unlock frankly I wouldn't mind if They unlocked a hotspring spot, or cave spot that can be a secret hide out man liter that bad boi with treasure chest galore.

Just to clarify for those who can't get over this poster making an honest mistake, YoshiP also confirmed at the same time the item limit for interior furnishings in housing will be increased sometime during 7.x just as he had announced at PAXEast.

Nothing was said about exterior furnishings for housing, just Island Sanctuary, but that's something I'm not expecting as much as i would like it.

I did not say ''OH IT WILL OBSOLETE HOUSING'' i was inquierying. Not making a direct stab that it was gonna ''Obsolete'' housing.

Not the way I took your post at all. It sounded more like you're hoping they're going to gradually increase features in IS to the point it could be instanced housing.

Personally, I'm hoping that IS is being used as a testing ground to create improved but separate instanced housing. This feels like an initial testing step just as Squadrons appear to have been a first step toward Trust and Duty Support.

After seeing the picture from the Live Letter, at least it looks like we can finally hide the cabin from the workshops! lol But still would be nice to have an actual cabin that wasn’t a hub of operations for the mammets! Maybe someday…

At least I can finally take some outdoor furnishings off my retainers! I wonder if the island will have storage too, or just placement.

Prepared to place 60 Cedar Trees around the outside of the Cozy Cabin to give it faux proper walls (I don't think 90 Island Palms or Wild Banana Trees would be enough).

The screenshot they had as an example was really weird looking with the Maple and Autumn trees scattered around.

Nothing was said about storage at all. I wouldn't rule it out but I think it would probably be a later addition and not part of 6.4.

Strangely they chose to not allow gardens, which is the exact reason why so many people wnat houses, they want to be able to grow their own materials instead of buying off the MB, same with Free Companies.
I don't konw what their deal is with being so stingy about those 2 features but the squeeze on housing would heavily lighten up if they just decoupled those from owning a house.

Considering striking dummies are also excluded, I think it may be something to do with items that have more complicated functions not working on the islands. It makes me wonder if some of the Trial trophy furnishings like the fountains will work or not.

I still think that 98% of those who claim they want a house to be able to garden would quickly lose interest if they had access. The island itself is now an easy test for this. Is the player going to their island daily and manually doing all the crop watering (unless it happens to be raining) and animal feeding? If yes, gardening may be for them. If no, then it isn't.

I could just see the complaints if the garden patches were allowed only for players to find out they have to do the tending, not the mammets.

This is great news. Finally a place to store all of my outdoor housing items. Now players without houses will have access to both indoor and outdoor designing, which should end the arguments that there aren't enough houses.

Ability to place outdoor furnishings is not the only reason players want a house. It still doesn't address their other reasons.

Safe to say the arguments will continue.

Of the many, many people I've encountered who talk to me about wanting gardening so they can grow onions, exactly one has ever called me on my offer of using my FC gardens after I explain the effort that goes into it. They lasted a whole month before giving up on it!
