    Revelations from Patch 6.35

As is tradition on patch day, this is a thread for compiling first impressions of the new patch content.

As is tradition on minor patch day, when the main patch thread gets too long or starts swerving into tangents, we make a new thread to keep discussion relatively focused on the new material without reopening old wounds.

For ease of readability, keep all potential spoilers under a header for the specific quest chain, with comments wrapped in spoiler tags (the "?" button on the rich-text editor toolbar). Keep [HB ] tags in quotes as well, trimming as needed as long as you preserve the link to the original post.

the loporrits are complaining that no one's moved in, but didn't we deport a bunch of garlean nationalists here in like the role quests or something?

    Characters n stuff.

We did, but they were expecting a whole planet or a good chunk of a planet's population. Not just a handful of refugees.

Well I'm excited to see how the Loporrit questline unfolds and gets to said ending someone felt like spoiling on the general section. Cause I guess they'd rather read data minded stuff then see how you get to said ending. I've only at the moment finished Hildibrand.

    Speaking about the Loporrits

It might just be me but the shadowy one looks like their outfit is a bit more tattered then the rest?

    On Hildibrand

They memed the math meme. Where is our Volleyball and Soccer mini games Yoshida? I feel like Delion is going to end up like Cyr. I'm kind of getting sick of the creepy Lalafell. Even if he actually did a good thing this time.

Something I forgot that I felt interesting in Hildibrand

Were linkpearls always made by Sharlyeans? As Delion doesn't want to carry the one assigned to him and Godbert due to him saying Sharlyeans would be listening on. Though Garleans have their own that make a slightly different sound when paged.

My main field of interest is Eureka, but I haven't been able to do more than the first ten floors so far. Other than that: yeah, the Loporrits are already right up my alley.

I love a storyline that turns up after the credits have rolled and says 'well, now what?' And that's almost literally what the Loporrit story opens with.

    Eureka (up to 30):
Wow. Just, wow. So much closure after all these years of waiting.

Hard confirmation that linkpearls are indeed subject to the same background noise problems as cell phones, thanks to what sounds like G'raha either falling out of bed or knocking over a pile of books. Maybe both.

Koh's glow up was much needed.

Three demiclones: Doga, Unei, and a surprise Onion Knight. OK is very smol. Like onion.

The enemies all suck, and the difficulty feels a lot meaner. Dread enemies are the actual worst.

First two bosses are whatever, though I liked the Mandragora version of the Allagan Melon.

Third boss is... a clone Tiamat. In a mini Dalamud. That escalated quickly. The choice of Heavensward themes for the dungeon playlist feels a lot more meaningful now.

Koh really just wanted closure, as much as we did. I kind of appreciate her "yeah, we did" attitude to everything in Eureka. Doga and Unei really got the short end of the stick in ARR, so it's nice to give them a proper posthumous send off. Still waiting for their FF3 boss versions, but there's more floors to go.

And it ends with a reprise of Eternal Wind, and a lighter reprise of G'raha's original parting words, since we know he'll come running and let no pile of books get in his way.

And now my party wants me for more floors, so I'll continue later.

    Addendum: Eureka (Up to 40):
    Ahahahahaha! Ahahahahahahaha! Ahahahahahahahahaha! Ha...

Yeah, okay. Noah wasn't kidding. Floors 37-39 are absolutely awful with untelegraphed one-shots and pathers who can actually just trap you with no chance of escape. Bring anyone with a rez. 4 healers, even.

And then floor 40. Twintania Clone. Twintania made somehow worse. Really glad I was running with friends who cleared Coil while it was current, because just being able to call out "Twister!" saved a lot of coordination. Clearable in one pull but it is a scary fight.

Now that Eureka Orthos has been established as the place where Dalamud was built, I suppose I should have seen it coming. I suppose the next bosses could only be more Coil remixes. Who's at the end, though? Bahamut Clone? Prototype Avatar? I almost don't want to know. Noah might have more to say but I need to go tremble in a corner now.

Finished the first thirty floors of Eureka 2: Tworeka, and... yeah, impressed where it went, although I kinda wish it swung harder.

I find it insufficiently damning of Allag--which is surprising, since it's already pretty damning. But in really going for the shot on condemning Allag's cloning techniques, it... kinda just completely skips over the part where they were conquering the planet in the first place. Sure, I'll grant that part wasn't exactly Noah's primary field or focus, it'd be like yelling at the Minister for the Environment over crime statistics, but it really does feel weird that they kinda skipped over it.

That said, very happy that the game ran with my 'Tworeka' joke without me knowing, and gave me Twoamat!

I hope to swing at the whole thing one day, but I have no idea when or how; my gut vibe says it's probably the hardest deep dungeon in general, although only second-hardest solo (PotD has some NASTY checks for solo players). Very early days, though.

The choice during the post-floor 30 quest left me...

I think it was in-character from Noah, after all, she's an Archmage (heh) who was alive during the peak and decline of Allag, she wants us to remember the ingenuity and the good things they did. Unfortunately for her, we've been witness to the worst (or if it's not the worst, to some pretty horrifying <kupo!>) of Allag's "For SCIENCE!" approach. So while I understood her thoughts and feelings. I greatly disagreed.

When you ask her about Tiamat she even has the gall to say Tiamat was the Wyrm with the highest body count, if you count her summoning of Bahamut. But we know she was pushed and fooled into it by the Ascians taking advantage of her grief. Really just left a sour taste in my mouth. I can appreciate Allag's inventiveness without ignoring the awful, awful <kupo!> they did. Gleefully, according to Amon's Echo flashback.

Anyway, the achievement names are filled with Arthurian references and as a HUGE nerd of Arthurian mythos it's making me very happy. I'm greatly enjoying AN Eureka, so props.

I haven't done anything besides unlock it, but I did watch someone do that part and yeah it left a sour taste in my mouth.

Yes, Allag did a lot of cool stuff that was and still can be beneficial. Yet they are the poster child of "They only thought about could they do something and almost never about should they". Sure she has a point and makes sense from a certain point of view. Yet there's a reason why I dubbed Azys La as "Elpis if Elpis was meant to find new and terrible ways to defeat your enemy." It also reminds me of the mind set the Omnicrons embraced. Which was what's the most efficient and thus quickest way to demoralize the enemy with very little loss to you? It really makes me wonder if Amon had been raised to his seat by the time Owan had done his tempering cure research or if that was how Amon felt about that sort of thing prior to being raised.

I do wonder how much of the worst stuff they did was guided or done by Ascian hands. I'm sure Lahabreha cackled with glee at the chance to create the most awful things with little to no oversight. Allag makes me think of the Institute from Fallout 4 where after a time if they didn't expell a person to the surface with barely anything they had the person sent to the team that was still tinkering with FEV even after Gen 3 sysnths had been rolled out.
