Just wanted to give this it’s own thread, since it came up in a larger thread on a different topic. It was suggested that smalls aren’t seen as appealing as the other house sizes. And for some, that might always be true, just based on aesthetic and preference. But if it’s just a matter of extra space…

A third floor/attic could be added to smalls, and along with that bump up the item limit a little, say an additional 100 indoor/10 outdoor items across the board for all sizes.

The staircase to the attic could go in the southwest corner of the ground floor, much like the down staircase is in the northeast corner. It might have to be a little bit steeper, since you’d probably only be able to have the same 3x3 grid like the ground floor up there. But pretty much all the housing skins/roofs make it look like there’s two floors above ground anyways. And because smalls don’t have any railings or balconies to contend with, it should be fairly simple from a layout standpoint.

A lot of people want to upgrade for that extra floor and higher item limits. And the current ward layouts only have so many medium and larges available. Raising the item limits slightly for every size and giving the smalls a third floor could make them a more attractive option to those who would normally be trying for medium or large. Or at least a consolation prize for those who can’t get one. Until we can actually get some kind instanced housing that gives us the ability to choose whatever size we want without having to wait for someone else to move!
