My two cents: more games should just give you the option to play as male or female and choose your character's sexuality (2nd option only needed if there are dating mechanics) and then there should be options for same sex relationships and staying solo should be possible even if you want to max out friendship points or whatever
Will put you on ignore if you can't form a logical argument but argue nonetheless
Isn't that already the case for most games with a relationship focus and a character creator? My two cents: more games should just give you the option to play as male or female and choose your character's sexuality (2nd option only needed if there are dating mechanics) and then there should be options for same sex relationships and staying solo should be possible even if you want to max out friendship points or whatever
Thats because black people are still common enough in society. And especialy in the US, where variety in certain regions is higher, the general average can be higher. If you want a movie in the US, you should aim for an equal number of black people. This works with any minority since its a way to add immersion. It has a function in a movie as it enforces location.
10y ago because twitter and facebook werent widespread, there was no feedback towards those companies. They werent influenced. But these days they are. And this feedback is often just minorities complaining. But as usual, most complaints are invalid.
Sure, there are cases where the complaints indeed were valid. As for example in comic books, black people were often left out (costed more ink). But at the same time, they are trying to make something that isnt realistic by pushing too much black into movies. Its not realistic compared to how most areas are where the viewers live. If this gap becomes too big, they will stop watching. Classic hollywoods lack of being influenced generaly made hollywoods general situation its baseline. And even if it was slightly off balance, it wasnt disturbing because all movies were equal.
For sexual preference, there is another issue. Most viewers are straight, so any story involving love, to get immersion, should trigger their brain into such situation. A gay situation is therefor counter productive towards 95% of people.
Making movies still relies on marketing, so its more efficient to target the 95%, and yes, it means sometimes things wont get represented at all. But it requires a very good writer for that, and a good story. These simply arent being made as often, and sadly, if they do, only get a small bit of the attention towards a movie that doesnt. Its nature... and its harsh, but thats nature. Be glad they at least are still represented as side characters, as there they are the least disruptive. And be glad that even if a gay is forced to play a straight character, that such person is playing the main role. As that is still something the community can be proud of. Because there are definitely movies in which they are better.
