Stats, what do they really mean?

I have asked this question many times, and never been given a clear answer. Someone who truly understands and can clearly explain I would greatly appreciate and I'm sure many like me would benefit from understanding.

As a BLM for example, why should I equip INT (rings, and other gear) when I can use that slot for Magic Attack Potency?

I understand a certain number of INT = Magic ATT Potency, but I can gain a greater number in my Attribute menu by equipping the raw Magic Attack Potency.

Can you please explain to me the advantage of equipping INT or any stat over Attack, Attack Potency, Magic Accuracy etc.. etc..

I know there are some guides out there but I haven't found anything in depth that gives me the answer I'm looking for.

I think I speak for others as well when I say thanks in advance!

Bc INT adds magic damages, INT also adds magic attack which also raises your magic damages. So, you gain double benefit.

Will I do more damage if I equip more INT vs. Attack Magic Potency?
Will I have more magic accuracy if i equip MND vs Magic Accuracy?

My Attribute menu either lies, or the effects are hidden or not displayed.

    INT > add damage.
INT > add magic ataack stat > add damage.

MND > add magic accuracy stat > add magic accuracy.

I hope you understand what i am trying to say

Regarding whats better than what, it comes down to slot. The best INt for feet is INT 10, But double-triple melding a shoes will gives you 20-30 magic attack potency, so MATK potency is better in thsi case.

But if u compare INT+10 and MATK 10, i believe INT 10 will come on top, although the difference isnt that much. But, INT is receives bonus point for being thundara combo modifier.

Magic Attack Accuracy: More likely to successfully hit a critters. The higher this value, the less likely you will miss or get a partial (or full) resist. Affects both attack spells as well as enfeeblements/etc (like sleep).

Magic Attack Potency: How much your spell damages the critter. The higher this is, the more damage you do.

Intelligence: How much your spell damages the critter. The higher this is, the more 'peak' damage you can do. Also, Intelligence affects Magic Attack Potency (4 INT = 1 Magic Attack Potency).

So if you wear +18 INT rings you will not only raise your INT by 18 but also your Magic Attack Potency by 4.5.

Now, what you wear is entirely up to your entire outfit. You must co-ordinate correctly (and fashionably!). It is generaly considered good to not sacrifice one stat for another, but to increase all in moderation.

For example, it is no good having 600 INT with 0 Magic Accuracy.

Also you must consider your foe. If you are fighting something VERY dodgy you may want a lot of Magic Accuracy. But if you are only fighting equal or lesser mobs, Magic Accuracy is not really needed.

INT is tied into your base and -ra skills so the more int you have the stronger these skills become.

There are different situations where I use M.Att/M.Acc and INT/M.Acc. In fights where I am using mainly a Thunder combo rotation I will go more INT heavy. Thundara in a combo from what I read gives a +500 M.Att bonus and it's further enhanced by INT greater than adding more M.Att as I'm assuming it's easier to soft cap under that spell specifically.

For mobs like Miser I'll use a more M.Att/M.Acc focused set to bring my spell's DMG up all around. Especially fire spells.
