Should Moogle Treasure Trove be Permanent?

It shouldn't be permanent because it successfully solves two problems.

It helps create activity and logins in the typical content drought that happens a month before the next patch.

It helps get people to do rival wings, a type of pvp that is often dead without this event.

So Ive been playing WoW Dragonflight recently and one of the new features that I thought was neat is the whole Trading Post thing where they have you complete monthly activities for rewards that cycle every month.

Pretty much a battlepass; which to my knowledge people seem to either love or hate it.

But in this game, we already have that with the Moogle Tomestone event that happens prior to patch releases and I was thinking considering how people seem to lack things to do in this game, would it be a good idea to maybe have this event be a permanent thing?

I feel it be a nice way for at least recycling old content more frequently and maybe even allow certain mogstation items be available for purchase (obviously a pipe dream), or have some dungeon gear be acquired this way and this all gets cycled every month (one thing the WoW Trading post does is allow you to save specific items for purchasing later even if the month rolls by with new stuff)

Plus it'll also help keep Blue Mage relevant too and maybe finally allow to skew roulette queues to different content besides the usual raids that we see.

Still I dont know if this is a good idea or not. I already can tell people will complain about it, but what do you folks think?

The treasure trove is permanent tho, it is called grind cause you can get everything from there through the normal way. If you are too lazy for that or you don't have time to grind old tribes etc. then well wait for the next treasure trove event otherwise go and work for your stuff like the rest of us did.

Doesnt necessarily have to be old stuff, there can be new rewards

I am all for new rewards but introducing a permanent treasure trove like we have it now would turn people away from actually doing the content to get the rewards the "normal" way. Most of it isn't even that hard anymore thanks to unsync.

I mean we kinda have that already with the books we get from khloe but yeah, could use some updates tbh.

I dont get why people just ignore reading the initial post I made before saying stuff like "you can just unsync". I said just like with Moogle Tomestones, you CANT unsync the content to get em. At least somebody responded with a good point that Blue Mage runs will just triviliaze a lot of it anyway but seriously guys, stop saying "but unsync".

Maybe there should be a permanent one, to reward people for doing less common duties... Stuff like Alliance Raids other than the ARR ones, MSQ dungeons in the max level roulette and not the leveling one and past expansions Raids...

As for rewards, probably would have to be some more generic stuff though... Materia is always useful, specially if they dare give out DoH/DoL Materia as a reward on it.
And maybe some of the max level dungeon loot, for glam purposes. Since those aren't a guaranteed drop like leveling ones which can make them a pain to get.

On rewards, they could stop recycling previously sold, obtainable armor sets and throw in desirable dyeable variants of currently undyeable sets that are out there(I'm looking at you, Ivalice raid gear).

Like LotA's and the High Allagan sets(though idk why they reused high allagan since they're dyeable by default when you make/MB buy Replicas...), only they're bought with trophy crystal pvp currency.

Personally I'd say it should not be permanent, because Treasure Trove is used to help keep duties, etc active and otherwise give us something to do during the slow times of a patch.

XIV, for a Live Service / MMO game, does a pretty bad job of keeping events going through the year. These things shouldn't be rare, they should literally be cycling constantly, weekly. The MMO activities shouldn't feel as scarce as the moderation on this forum.

If it's an MMO, you'd think they would have constant events and random IN GAME things going on. I don't care about the drawing contests, put stuff in-game. Get GMs to actually arrange stuff, do something. It's an MMO.

I've seen MMO's in permanent Maintenance Mode have way more activities and GM interaction than XIV. It just makes the MMO part of the whole game feel forgotten.

This came up during Speakers Network most recent podcast talking about how to revitalize old content. They mentioned things like Treasure Trove, Wonderous Tales, and the books from the ARR relic grind should really just be in the weekly challenge log with various rewards given each week/month/patch cycle etc. A key part of that was not having to interact with any NPCs.

I was well on board with their suggestions, and was even getting excited thinking about it. There's a ton of content just sitting there for the devs to implement.
