I was honestly expecting to get a third one after I was recently reported for harrassment on another thread but to my surprise it didnt seem to take into effect?
At least Im assured that my responses to the poster werent seen as such but thats neither here nor there.
My point was more that even in the 'glory days' of WoW, be it BC or in WoTLK (That was when I played most, and yes there where plenty of complains about dungeons being too easy and stuff ) there are people who will complain and be dissatisfied with what is happening. The presence of such negativity will always exist in MMO life no matter whether its at its peak or not, and you know what? One day they will be right. No game last forever, and popularity will always go up and down due to a number of things. Mayhap people will look back at this time in the games life and say it was the ‘beginning of the end’ for FFXIV. I am no psychic so I cannot say, but nether is anyone else here. We can use our past experience of games sure, and we should always ecourage constructive criticism no matter what, but no one here will be free of bias or knows what the future holds. Now i was not involved or know the specifics on what was discussed in those forums during that time, but this is a really odd take with what you are trying to portray. Yes, WoW is not dead (like most MMOs), but IIRC WoWs peak came in WotLK where the decline began and soon after they started hiding sub counts...and with the sentiment of WoW pre-dragonflight, idk...maybe they shouldve listened?

Welp, time to post for the first time in...how long has it been? Checks... THAL'S BALLS! It's only been like 2 years? Less than I thought.
AHEM!
Folks always doom and gloom when they have nothing to do. That's all it really is. I will link to an old thread made as a joke for all the doom and gloom in the past though...anywho, back to the safety of my cave.

It's usually more positive here than ESO forums, but not always and right now I would say is one of those times it isn't. Every official game forum I've frequented has an abundance of "doom and gloom" though. I get the reason behind that, somewhat, but I'm around (any of them) mainly to make sure I don't miss any seasonal events, promotions, or other limited time activities. I got my Chocorpokkur thanks to these forums! My brother thinks it's hideous and frequently draws an unmentionable comparison, but I love it and that's what matters.
Maybe I play games to escape. I'm not sure, but what I do know is I'm someone who likes to talk about real life while I'm playing more than game related stuff. I don't know how to respond to people who only seem interested in my character and are uncomfortable talking about real life, so I say very little in those situations.
On the Flip Side, the exact thing happens if you have an Opposite or Neutral Opinion. (Occasionally with facts and proof)
Unless you are 100% on board with SE / FFXIV is bad / This thing is bad, then you are labeled a Shill, White Knight, or are accused of worshiping the game and YoshiP.
TL;DR, it happens on both sides.
People are more likely to go out of their way to complain over praising. You'll see it all the time if you look up reviews on businesses where someone is like "I go here all the time and usually it has been fine but one time an employee looked at me wrong so I'm never coming back. 1 out of 5 stars".
So where was your review when things were fine? Why bomb it for the one time? It's cause people like to complain. Also if anyone says they shouldn't leave a positive review because good business should be expected I'm just going to ignore that as stupid.
Does this mean I leave reviews everywhere I go? Nope. If they do an outstanding job hell yeah I'm going to and I'll name drop the employee that did a good job so they can get credit. If it's an outstandingly terrible job I will also let them know.
If it is average I won't bother cause it was average. However one bad thing won't outweigh the multitude of average. I'll just treat it as just a singular bad experience and won't factor it in unless it starts to become a regular occurrence.
To me right now FFXIV is average. It's not great and it's not terrible. It exists to me and I do enjoy it for what it is. It could be better. If they focused on some things I can see it really being something special.
That's odd, because typically when I look up reviews on a business, especially one that has been recommended to me, the four and five star reviews heavily outweigh the one to three star reviews. Not only that, those reviews take the forefront of the webpage. Many businesses also rely on these good reviews in order to attract new customers. If I was interested in starting a character in FFXIV, and came to these forum to ascertain how people who play the game feel about it, do you honestly think it would draw me in? No, it wouldn't and I would wonder how and why the game got to be so popular.People are more likely to go out of their way to complain over praising. The actual truth is few people complain so rampantly as a self-entitled, unappreciative brat. They need to do it loudly and often as to embolden and encourage likeminded individuals to do the same. Most people are extremely annoyed by complainers, and there is nothing virtuous about it, or them. Over time, this forum has become nothing but a hornets nest localized by a hivemind that will sting the living crap out of anyone with a differing or opposing view, all the while circle jerking each other as some rudimentary means to cope with being compelled to sustain their subscription status despite their hatred for the game.
This mmo already is something special. It's been something special for a very long time now. Of course it could be better, but special does not entail flawlessness. Special does not mean novelty is everlasting. This game and dev team have done and accomplished many great things, touched many hearts, shed a lot of tears, and provided countless hours of entertainment for thousands upon thousands of gamers. Not every game, especially mmos can claim the same. Yet, you call the game "average". I am glad you do enjoy it for it what it is, so there is a semblance of appreciation for the game coming from you.To me right now FFXIV is average. It's not great and it's not terrible. It exists to me and I do enjoy it for what it is. It could be better. If they focused on some things I can see it really being something special.
