That's odd, because typically when I look up reviews on a business, especially one that has been recommended to me, the four and five star reviews heavily outweigh the one to three star reviews. Not only that, those reviews take the forefront of the webpage. Many businesses also rely on these good reviews in order to attract new customers. If I was interested in starting a character in FFXIV, and came to these forum to ascertain how people who play the game feel about it, do you honestly think it would draw me in? No, it wouldn't and I would wonder how and why the game got to be so popular.

The actual truth is few people complain so rampantly as a self-entitled, unappreciative brat. They need to do it loudly and often as to embolden and encourage likeminded individuals to do the same. Most people are extremely annoyed by complainers, and there is nothing virtuous about it, or them. Over time, this forum has become nothing but a hornets nest localized by a hivemind that will sting the living crap out of anyone with a differing or opposing view, all the while circle jerking each other as some rudimentary means to cope with being compelled to sustain their subscription status despite their hatred for the game.

To me right now FFXIV is average. It's not great and it's not terrible. It exists to me and I do enjoy it for what it is. It could be better. If they focused on some things I can see it really being something special.
This mmo already is something special. It's been something special for a very long time now. Of course it could be better, but special does not entail flawlessness. Special does not mean novelty is everlasting. This game and dev team have done and accomplished many great things, touched many hearts, shed a lot of tears, and provided countless hours of entertainment for thousands upon thousands of gamers. Not every game, especially mmos can claim the same. Yet, you call the game "average". I am glad you do enjoy it for it what it is, so there is a semblance of appreciation for the game coming from you.
